SUMMIT HILL 7TH GRADE GIRLS TAKE 3RD IN STATE!!! 

The Summit Hill Junior High seventh grade girls' basketball team closed out their season by capturing third place in the IESA basketball tournament on Dec. 11.

After winning their conference and the regional and sectional rounds, the Lady Spartans traveled to Bloomington/Normal and defeated Lockport Oak Prairie 32-12 in the opening round. This victory secured the team a spot in the IESA's Final Four.

Summit Hill then faced Normal Kingsley in the second round, losing 36-29. This loss ended the team's hopes of making it to the championship game. Instead, the Spartans squared off against Bethalto Trimpe for a chance to win third place. Summit Hill went on to defeat Bethalto 21-19.

The Lady Spartans' overall record for the season was 26-1.

The Summit Hill team was led by Wildcats: Casey Zimmerman, Sam Pietrusynski, Shannon Murphy, Amy Vos, Erin Creedon, Allie Dunnett and Elly Waleski.
