Welcome to the South County Soccer Club - Hebron, Indiana.

The Hebron Soccer Club has made many changes for 2008. South County Soccer Club is our new name and we are joining forces with Boone Grove to increase the overall size of our club. There will also be a sight located in Porter township school area some with practices and games played there. We want to build a club that offers a Positive longterm growth experience so that the opportunities will also be available for our region. This will help us achieve excellence and quality in the total development of the youth soccer player to accomplish a higher level of soccer skills, while developing each child’s level of technical, tactical and physical fitness through good soccer training. Our goal is for children to have as much fun as possible in the process of reaching their fullest potential.

We are changing and growing to provide a better experience for our community. The changes that we have made will help to promote not only Youth Soccer, but it will also help our youth to develop better skills and to love to play the Game. These are some of things we are implementing in our new club.

? PLAYER RETENTION – players leave the game at early ages due to lack of success, lack of enjoyment, and stress induced by coaches and parents. We are going to work with all of our coaches, educating them on improving the skills of our youth and how to build their confidence for the love of the game.

? TACTICS OVER TECHNIQUE – Many young teams spend too much time learning tactical aspects of the game, which can lead to quick wins without players learning, needed skills for the future. Our club is dedicated to teaching good foundational skills so that the kids get a good understanding of the basics.

? POSITIONS & TEAM PLAY – Players are “pigeon holed” into specific positions early on, and are not challenged or allowed to try a variety of positions. It is important for everyone to play all of the positions. Experiencing all the positions will increase the knowledge of an individual and will help the whole team.

? RESULTS BASED SOCCER – Teams, players, clubs, and coaches are judged by wins vs. losses, and are rewarded accordingly. Parents want their players to play on “elite” teams, encouraging coaches and clubs to emphasize a winning record to recruit players. Coaches and trainers are judged based on record, division, tournament success etc. – not on improvement of individual players. We understand that it feels good to win, but the long-term success is based on improving the overall skills of an individual.

FEAR OF FAILURE – Players at young ages are often afraid to attempt new things for fear of failure, giving up goals, losing the game, etc. Coaches are afraid to allow players to try new positions, or to play the “weaker” players especially in close games for fear of losing. Players are not encouraged to experiment, try new things, and be creative. We will encourage the players to play all positions and receive a better understanding of all the aspects of the game.

Ages of Players:

U6 Pre-School 4-5yr olds

U8 Passers 6-7yr olds

U10 Wings 8-9yr olds

U12 Strikers 10- 11 yr olds

U14 Kickers 12-14 yr olds

(14yrs old will be accepted if they are still in the 8
th grade.)

The lower age must be reached and the higher age not exceeded prior to August 1 of the current “playing year”. “Playing year”, as it is used here, will commence on August 1 and end on July 31.

We're all set and ready to run!

The teams are chosen and the coaches are being given their information as of the week of July 27th. You will be receiving a call from them to pass on more specifics about your team, but we wanted to make sure you noticed that the first practice will be August 4th for ALL TEAMS. We're doing something new for our league this year called Academy Practice. This will be where all teams from each age group will practice together 1 day per week working with not only their coaches, but also with the league coaches to get a more intense understanding of the basics skills needed. The older ages will find that they'll get to work more intense skills at academy than in their regular team practices. The end result is that the children will be shown a wider range of skills to work on at home and to use on the field. We hope it gets them even more interested in soccer than they already are. We know we are.

The draft took almost 4 hours and the teams are going to be extremely competitive in the U6, U8, and U10 groups. There are only 1 team in the U12 and U14 groups, but they're going to be top-notch also.

We're looking forward to some great things this year and we hope you are too. Contact any board member if you need more information.
