HOME OF THE 2012  SOUTH OAKLAND A'S

Congratulations to the 2011 12U South Oakland A's on their Week 9 Cooperstown Dreams Park Championship!!!

A letter to A's, Families and Friends from Coach Buster

Friends & Families,

I am writing to you all to inform you that there is an A’s family member that needs our help. Daniel Zuchowski’s brother, TJ, had a terrible accident swimming up north over the 4th of July weekend. The family will need us to go to bat for them now and help them get through some of the struggles they will face in the upcoming weeks, months, and years. Ever since I started the A’s years ago, I tell all the players that I have coached, that in life it is very important to be a good person. The world needs good people. Character is a trait that I look for when I select the teams that I’m going to coach, not always the best players, but those who will be team players, and will work hard towards the goals of the team. TJ is a wonderful young man. Since his accident I have asked God everyday why bad things happen to good people. The one thing that I know is that good people can help good people in their time of need, and this is why I’m sending you this e-mail to inform you of some fund raising events that are coming up and ask your help by participating and informing anyone and everyone that you can. The last Tuesday of every month will be a dinner night at a local restaurant that will donate 20% of the bill to the family. The first night will be July 26th at Shields on 15 Mile & Crooks. We will have a night out on August 19th at DeCarlo’s banquet hall. We are also shooting for a golf outing September 25 at the Myth Golf Course.  All of these things are in the works and more information will be coming so please look for it. We are asking for the A’s family to come together and get this done. If any families have any contacts or connections that can help TJ, Donna, Tom, Jessica and Danny please let us know for we want to use all of our networking power for this family. More info will come soon. Thanks so much.

A nice article in the Tuesday July 26, 2011 Oakland Press by Pat Caputo.

Thank you to all that have participated in the previous fundraisers for this family. There will be additional fundraising events to benefit the Zuchowski family. They will always be posted on the South Oakland A's website, whether they are run by us or others, to help this family in their time of need.

Recipe for Success

1. Never underestimate your opponent.
2. Work on your weaknesses until they
    become your strong points.
3. Remember that a great effort is usually
the result of a great attitude.
4. Dedicate yourself to a mighty purpose.
5. Win with humility, lose with grace.
6. Ignore those who discourage you.
7. Work to improve your moral and spiritual
strengths as well as your physical ones.
8. Remember that how you conduct yourself
off the field is as important as how you
    conduct yourself on the field.
9. Talent is God given - be humble.
Fame is man given - be thankful.
Conceit is self given - be careful.
10. Don't ask to be deprived of tension and discipline -
these are the tools that shape success.
11. Do what has to the done, when it has to be done
and as well as it can be done.
12. Remember that when you're not working to improve,
      your competition is.
13. Always give your best.
14. Practice like a champion.
15. Play like a champion.
16. Live like a champion.

Are you a Winner or a Loser?

Losers look to blame
Winners take responsibility

Losers look at the scoreboard
Winners look at how hard they played

Losers get knocked down
Winners get up

Losers want to get credit for the win
Winners just want to win no matter who gets credit

Losers want to strike everyone out
Winners just want to get hitters out

Losers look for cheap ways to learn
Winners invest in their education

Losers want awards
Winners want championships

Losers think stats
Winners think team record

Losers are afraid
Winners have courage

Losers are skeptical
Winners go for it

Losers like to talk about what they are going to do
Winners are too busy doing it

Which are you?
