2009 AAA Club
The AAA (Academics, Attendance, and Athletics Excellence) club, in
it's inaugural season consisted of 7 fine young men who exhibited
excellence in the classroom and on the baseball field. Adam Johnson,
Markus Johnson, Dominic Holliman-Wade, Jesse Kendrick, Chaz Alsup, Joe
Pattishall, and Dustin Morris earned this distinct honor in the AAA
Club's inaugural season.
To be a part of this club, Students
must have perfect attendance (both at school and baseball) and earn a B
average in all their classes. Additionally, it is prerequisite to
exhibit a perfect record of behavior both in class and during baseball.
All 7 of these young men met these requirements.
The AAA
members all earned a overnight trip to Cincinnati to take in a
Cincinnati Reds vs Cleveland Indians baseball game in May of 2009.
After the game, the players stayed in a downtown Cincinnati hotel.
Congratulations to these young men.

South High Graduate and former Major League Baseball Player Frank Howard

|
|
A graduate of South High School,Frank Howard was known as "Hondo." He was on a World Series Champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers. In Washington he blasted tape-measure home runs for the Senators and stood out like a giant compared to his smaller teammates, who called him "The Capital Punisher." A powerful right-handed slugger of Paul Bunyon-like build, Howard won two home run titles and was the best player in Senators' expansion history. He is now the first base coach for the Columbus Clippers.
