CIF PLAYOFFS BEGIN TUESDAY, MAY 15TH

Sonora Raiders Baseball starts the playoff season at home at 3:15 pm on Tuesday, May 15th vs. Century High School.  Come out and support your Raiders and cheer our boys on to victory.

Portofino Dine-out Fundraiser

Thank you to the staff of Portofino's.  Sonora Raiders enjoyed a great evening on Tuesday, May 1st.

Alumni Day

Sonora's Alumni Day was a great success.  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the pancake breakfast, the homerun derby and the lunch for the alumni and players.  A wonderful day with a ton of fun.

3rd Annual Golf Ball Drop Fundraiser     

Thank you for your support to Raiders Baseball.  The Golf Ball Drop was held on Saturday, March 31st prior to the first game of the Anaheim Lions Tournament.  Our winner took home $1,000.00.  This is a terrific fundraiser and so much fun to be a part of.  Thank you Heidi Wilkinson for organizing this great event.

Update regarding Owen Start  2/7/12

Owen Start, a Sophomore player on the JV team, was struck by a foul ball at Saturday's game.  He was taken to the hospital to get checked and a precautionary Catscan, followed by a MRI, confirmed that he had a brain tumor (unrelated to his injury).  Owen was taken to CHOC hospital in Orange, where he underwent surgery on Tuesday morning to remove the brain tumor.  According to Owen's mother, the conversations with the doctors, it appears the tumor to be benign, and confirmation should be made upon completion of the lab work.  Owen's mother tells us that the foul ball may have been God's work in action.  Sonora Baseball players, coaches and families wish Owen a speedy and healthy recovery.

Update 2/9/12

Owen continues to make good progress and is out of ICU.  The doctors report that most patients see the most pronounced improvement after about 3 days, which would be tomorrow.  Owen is in good spirits and has maintained his sense of humor.  Kurt Blodgett delivered a card from all of the players today and Owen and his family were thankful for the consideration and your thoughts/prayers.  Owen said he misses Sonora Baseball, but that he very much looks forward to getting back in the game.  Visiting hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Update 2/18/12

It was great to see Owen Start at the games today, just one week after his release from the hospital.  Owen will be off until around May 1 and he has a great attitude/perspective on his recovery!  Owen received great news that the removed tumor was the least problematic that you can have.

Update  3/7/12

Owen Start (player from our JV program) could use some extra moral/spiritual support.  He has some fluid build-up in his brain.  Doctors will attempt medication intervention, but will resort to surgical intervention if necessary.  Please keep the Start family in your thoughts as Owen continues in his journey to wellness.
