“One of the areas we believe requires balance and skill is learning how to separate what your young golfers do, from who they are. The goal is to create an environment for developing healthy self-esteem that is not dependent on always winning and shooting low scores. If the first question a child gets asked is “What did you shoot/” then the implicit message is, score is what is most important. In our experience as coaches of future tour players, enhancing of self-esteem and worth separate from performance is of major importance. In the game of golf, players will always have ups and downs when it come to performance….Here are a few conversation starters and questions that can create an atmosphere for great discussions and reflection.
