At the half way mark of the season, the Vikings traveled to North Smithfield on a very wet and rainy morning. The Vikings coming into the game with a 1-1-1 record while the Express has a perfect 2-0 record.
1st quarter was dominated by the Vikings! QB Kyle Courtemanche lead the fight Vikings to do what no team had done thus far, score on the opening drive and score of there 1st deffence of the North Smithfield Express!
McKenzie Cavanaugh, Albert Kishfy, Brendon Titus, Chris Hawkins, Trey Green, and Chris Cote the Vikings offensive line controlled the Express’s relentless blitz’s packages! Also opening up lanes for the 3 back combination and the out standing running from, Jake Damico, Brendon Benoit, and Cody DeOlivieria.
Cody DeOlivieria running in on a 25 yard touchdown run making it 6 –0 at the end of the 1st quarter.
2nd quarter more of the same both team stepping up on defense and with the rain coming down even hard then in the 1st quarter, the vision for the players where limited! The Vikings defensive really started coming with sacks from Brendan Benoit, Jake DAmico, Nick Gerlach and Chris Cote. The Express tried to go to the air but only to have Steve Parker get in the way not letting the Express complete one pass all game! The Express managed to pull out a score just before half time, taken a lead 8-6
3rd quarter the Express received a kickoff and return it for a touchdown leaving the Viking players asking what just happened! The Express taken a 14- 6 lead
The Vikings tried to move the ball but the Express proved to be too much not letting the Vikings offensive get into a zone.
4th quarter two more scores for the Express as the beat the Vikings 30-6
At the end of the game Coach Cliff and Dave spoke, reminding the players that they played hard, and that they are the only team to score on the Express 1st defense and that they should keep there heads up and understand what it takes to win in this league. Coach Cliff “in order to be the best you have to beat the best” we just played one of the best teams in this league and we gave them a fight.
Next game the Smithfield Vikings will be home to take on the 49ers!
