The Vikings had to play in the 6th grade division in the West Coast Waves Spring Classic. They started off with a loss to a very tough Conejo Running Rebels team, a team currently in first place in the 7th grade division of the VCYBC. They followed with wins over the 6th Grade Simi Valley team, and the Agoura Chargers. The Vikings finished with a win over the 6th grade Santa Barbara Blazers to capture 3rd place in the seven team 6th grade division. This first year Vikings team has played in 7 tournaments and have 3 championships and two 3rd place finishes. GO VIKINGS!!!
The SIMI VALLEY VIKINGS were the 5th Grade Girls Division Champions in the Martin Luther King Invitational, played over the Holiday weekend in Orange County. Over 90 girls teams from throughout Northern and Southern California, and as far away as Arizona and Texas, played in the divisional tournament. The Vikings Girls went undefeated in 4 games against Lake Balboa, South Bay Waves, Pacific Thunder, and NJB Stars Elite 2; to win their division. The Vikings outscored their opponents 184 to 111. This is the third tournament sweep for this first year Vikings Team.
The Vikings went undefeated in the West Coast Waves Holiday Classic to capture their second tournament win. Everyone on the team contributed to the 3 wins. The Vikings had to beat a very tough Conejo team twice on Sunday, one time in league and again in the Championship Game. The players would like to thank our fans who showed up in numbers for each game. They would also like to thank the families who brought the snacks. GO VIKINGS!!!
The 5th Grade Vikings Girls took 3rd place in the NJB Special Edition Tournament. They held their own against some of the toughest teams in the area. The Vikings were either tied or leading in the second half of all of the games. The girls are showing improvement on both ends of the court. Thanks to the families who made the trip. The Vikings would also like to thank the Dunn, Glugatch, and Lykins families for bringing snacks.
The Vikings Girls played great in the Swoosh Fall Classic Tournament. They won their two games on Saturday against some good teams. The girls played a very tough team on Sunday. At half time, they were down by about 8 points. The Vikings actually took the lead midway through the second half. They got in some foul trouble towards the end of the game and suffered their first loss in 7 tournament games. The coaches and parents are very proud of this Vikings Team. They played very hard and never gave up. The Vikings Medical Staff had to work on several injuries, but all girls were able to return to action. Thanks to the Glugatch and Dunn families for providing the snacks for the weekend games. The Vikings would also like to thank Kyle Lykins for taking all of the game action pictures during the tournament. Go to albums and then click on Swoosh Tournament to see the photos.
The West Coast Waves Fall Classic was the first tournament for this Vikings team. They played 4 great games, going undefeated for the tournament to capture their first championship. It was a great team effort and Coach Pat pushed the right buttons from the bench. The girls did not let a little fire keep them from getting to the games on time. We had great fan support for all 4 games. GREAT JOB!!
The 5th Grade Girls would like to thank the generous businesses and individuals who donated money for our warm ups. We will be proud to wear these uniforms this season.
