General Information for Players and Parents
Below you will find some of the most Frequently asked questions. Who is eligible to try-out and play for the Silver Devils? Any girl/Boy between the ages of 10-17 is eligible to try-out and play for the Silver Devils. All players wishing to play may need to go through an evaluation process. Try-outs may take place in the fall and the spring if spots are available and they are needed. Please monitor this website for exact dates, times, and locations. What is the cost of the program for each player? New vs. Returning? Older Age Divisions Schedule vs Younger Age Divisions Schedule? New Player (14U-17U)- The cost for a New Player to the program in the 14U-17U age divisions is TBD. If the player makes a team, TBD will be required immediately and the remaining TBD will be due by March 15th. New Player (10U-13U)- The cost for the 10U-13U age divisions is TBD based on the tounament schedule played, uniforms, etc.... Returning Players- The cost for retuning players will be adjusted as they will keep their uniforms from the prior year. If they do not require a new uniform set than the cost will be adjusted accordingly for those players. Older Age Divisions Schedule vs Younger Age Divisions Schedule? Older girls (14U-17U) will play the 7-10+ tourney schedule but the Younger girls (10U-13U) will play an adjusted 6 or 7 Tournament schedule. Hotel fees, food, travel etc...are not included in this fee. The cost for all age divisions will cover Tournament Fees, uniforms, equipment and gym rentals. There will be no refunds for any player that quits the team. If a player is kicked off the team for any reason at the discretion of the head coach than a pro-rated refund may be in order if a player is found to replace that player for the remainder of the season. Arrangements for payment can be made. Contact Chad Silver at 617-750-6118 to make arrangements. When does the season start and how long does it last? The season begins the first week in March and runs through June or mid-July. An elite team may qualify for the National Tournament or Junior Nationals, Bay State Games etc... in which case their season might run longer. Some teams may continue to play in the fall, but this is up to each individual team. What is the rule on practices? When and where are they held? Players are expected to commit to attend practice on a regular basis and help to contribute to the teams development. Teams practice twice per week for two hours at a time. Silver Devils teams will be practicing at local gyms TBD. When and where are the games played? Although tournaments are held all over the United States and even at international locations, the Silver Devils will attend tournaments in the Northeast Region of the United States. Additionally, teams usually plan two or three "overnight stay" travel tournaments during the course of the season. How much playing time will each player receive? Every player is guaranteed playing time every game. How much playing time a player receives is dependent upon that players commitment to the team, attendance at practice, attitude etc....Playing time will be given at the discretion of the head coach based on the above factors. What are the responsibilities of a player's parents? As a parent, you want the best for your child. Our coaches also want the best for your child. In order for this to occur, it is important that parents - no matter how basketball knowledgeable they might be, refrain from coaching their child in practices and games. The coach has ten player's interests in mind. It is always uncomfortable for a coach to remove a player from a game because she is acting upon her parent's coaching rather than fulfilling the expectations of the team and coach. A parent needs to be positive at all time and cheer on every member of the team. Any questions concerning coaching should be brought to the coach's attention in a private conversation without children present. |
