Barry Trood receives Mr Lacrosse Award from the OLA
Our Club founder "Barry Trood" was recently awarded the "Mr Lacrossse Award" for 2009 at the OLA AGM Awards Banquet in Niagara Falls .  This award is for the individual who best promotes the game of lacrosse in the province.  Barry was nominated by the Tri-Towns Lacrosse Club (Haileybury/New Liskard) and received the award on November 7th in Niagara Falls.  Club President Bobbi Jo Bannon and her husband Pete who is our equipment manager was also on hand for Barry's award ceremony. Barry started up the Vets in 1999 and prior to that started the Caledon Bandits minor Club back in 1984.  Barry served as President for 10 years and now serves as past President and GM of the Jr "C" Vets.

Vets own Hanna Early makes U19 Team Canada womens field!

Congrats to our "Hanna Early" on being named to Team Canada Under 19 , 2010 Women Field Team!  Hanna who is the daughter of our long term VP and coach Mark Early showed her many years of Vets box lacrosse skills carried over to the women field game.  Hanna is great lacrosse player and has always worked hard which has now paid off for her.  We are sure Mark and Sue along with the rest of Shelburne Vets lacrosse are very proud of her!

Way to Go Hanna!!!

Shelburne Jr. "C" enters there third year of play in 2010!

The Shelburne Vets Jr"C" team will be heading into their 3rd year in 2010 and hope to improve on their 5-11 in 2009.  The Jr "C" team made up of our local stars was put into place in 2008 so our players have a team to develop their skills in the  game after their Midget year. The Vets will have a couple of big holes to fill next year in losing Captain "Cory Sinclair" as well veteran goaltender "Scott Rooney" who both went overage.  It is hoped veterans Miles Montgomery, Josh Menzies and who are both in their final year of Jr lacrosse will fill in the scoring gap along with 3rd year players Matt Volpe, Norm Craig, Trevor McKee , Ben Syme and Dan Dittmann and Dustin Early. The Vets are looking for second  year players Wade Mackey, Luke Burke, Jesse Jamieson , Pete Bannon, Kevin Irons, Tyler Greer and last year's rookie of the year Jordan Monahan all to step up their game this coming summer. Last year 2009 the Caledon Bandits took their second OLA JR "C" title in a row over Peterboro Lakers winning 3 games to one.

Vets try outs and schedule for the 2010 season will be posted as soon as it becomes available.  If you would like to sponsor or if  any players wishing more info for the Jr C Vets please contact Barry at 519-323-8113 or email :  vets99@hotmail.com for more info.
