Welcome to the Shelburne Veterans website  The Vets were founded in the winter of 1998 by Barry Trood , Mark Early, Wade & Nancy McNutt, Joan Train and  Gary Collins  jumping on board before our first game as an organization was played in the summer of 1999. The "Veterans" nickname was chosen to honour all of our Canadian War Vets who have served our country so well over the past 100 years. Thanks to them our country is free and continues to be so.  Our first player ever signed was Cody Jamieson who interestly is still a player with our club 10 years later.  Cody was a member of our Intermedaite team last year and was also member of the Bantam and Intermediate teams that won provincial titles in 2000 and 2005 respectfully.

Our club has won 5 provincial championships as follows:  2000 Bantam "D", 2000 Tyke "D", 2001 Novice "D", 2004 Midget "C" and in 2005 Intermediate "C".  We have also been provincial finalists 5 times as well including 3 in our first year of operation on the floor in 1999.  Our PeeWee team toured New Brunswick in 2004 winning the Fundy Riptide tournament in Saint John while also playing 2 games against the N.B. provincial team.  In 2006 Daniel Craig of our PeeWee Vets team became our first player to make the Ontario Provincial team.  This was quite an honour for Daniel as well as for our club. Daniel was the only player from a "C" rated center to make the team.

The year 2008 marks our clubs 10th year anniservary and what better way to mark the development of our club then see our town be awarded a Jr."C" lacrosse team in the newly formed OLA Jr."C" lacrosse league.  The Vets are one of 5 new teams with the other teams being Caledon, Center Wellington, Innisfil and West Durham. The Jr."C" Vets open on the road in Caledon on May 13 th before opening at home on Saturday May 24th at 7pm against the West Durham Rock. It should be an exciting time !  The Vets with the exception of there opening game will be playing all there home games on Friday nights at 8pm at the Bunker!  Make a point of taking in the action! "Don't Mess with US" is the motto for the team!

Our club works towards excellence in lacrosse in an enjoyable enviroment for all our players and their families. We hope you enjoy your year and remember its all about playing the game of lacrosse,  not just how good your children may or may not be! 

Lest we Forget   

There will be custom mouth guard clinics coming up for the 2009 lacrosse season. They will be running at the Shelburne Arena and possibly at the Dundalk Arena. The mouth guards are made with a quality laminate called "PROFORM". It will involve taking an impression. It will be available from ages Tyke and up.  There are many colours available including team colours and favorite colours.  The mouth guards are $25 and will take only a few days to make and return.
