THANKS TO DISTRICT 1 STAFF & PRESIDENTS

On behalf of Shalimar Little League, let us say a big THANK YOU to all teams that participated in the Major League Tournament.  Not only was this tournament very successful, but it was FUN.

The players (kids) played awesome games and were good sportmen everyone.  All Managers and Coaches, even at contentious times, exuded professionalism that we have not seen in many tournaments.

If you missed the last game last night between Destin Niceville American, you missed an awesome game.  The game went right down to the wire, the last out, with hair raising and nail biting pressure.  We felt the butterflies that had to be going on in the Pitchers and Batters stomachs.  It was a true and fitting ending to a game between two great ball teams.

Please pass on our sincerest thanks to all those that participated in this Tournament.  We were blessed with good weather throughout the tournament and that is a major accomplishment in itself.  We stayed on schedule from game one to game eighteen.  We attricute that also to the skills and knowledge of the game that your teams obviously brought with them.

If there is anything Shalimar Little League can do better for future tournaments, complaints are welcome.  Please let us know if we failed in any way.  Constructive criticism is a good thing in most cases.  We heard great kudos from most of your teams and fans, and for that, we are very appreciative.

Come join us for Sectionals on Saturday July 19th.  We will have two games that day, one at 10 am and the other at 4 pm.  It would be our peasure to see you there.

Again thanks to all from Shalimar Little League.

James DeStaven - President

Angie Schultz - Tournament Coordinator

THANK YOU TO OUR DISTRICT 1 UMPIRES
Large Umpire

Hey all, I just wanted to pass along that the District tournament ended in Shalimar tonight with Niceville American beating Destin 6-5.  It was a great game.  The game ended with Destin at the plate as the visiting team, down by one run, two outs, bases loaded, a full count on the batter, with an infield hit to get the runner at first.

Outstanding play by both teams and I thought this game had every chance of going  into extra innings.  I want to thank all of you who came out to assist with the tournament these last two weeks.  Almost every game was played with very little controversy and any problems were handled professionally by what I consider the best group of umpires in the district.  One more weekend and this season is in the books.  Next weekend on the 19th and 20th the sectionals for District 1 and District 20 will be played at Shalimar along with the 9-10 yr old State tournament being played in Freeport.

Thanks again all for everything you’ve done so far this year and making my job much much easier.

Cheers and I’ll see you at the plate!
