Seton Catholic Central's 12th-seeded Saints opened Section 4 Class C boys soccer tournament play Wednesday with a 2-0 road victory over fifth-seeded Southern Cayuga.

Second-half goals by Brendan Foley and Chris Roma lifted Seton CC to its fourth victory in 16 matches this season.

Donald Castellucci assisted Foley, who deposited a ball into the right side of the goal three minutes after halftime. Then, with five minutes remaining in the match, Farrell flicked a pass through to Roma, who doubled the margin. "The first goal, we just lost our mark," Chiefs coach Terry Underwood said. "I'm not taking anything away from (Foley), because he made a nice shot. We had marked so well all game, we just had a little bit of a defensive breakdown, and he's a very good player and took advantage of it."

Freshman goalkeeper Connor Ligeikis, who spent the regular season with the Saints' junior varsity, was credited with nine saves. Saints coach Dave Kendall credited sweeper Castellucci, stopper Tyler Kendall and outside back Mike O'Brien for outstanding defensive play.

Ahead for the Saints will be a quarterfinal on the road against fourth-seeded Spencer-Van Etten at 3:30 Saturday.

Southern Cayuga closed its season with an 11-7 record.
