THE FEARLESS FORECASTERS MAKE THEIR PICKS FOR WEEK SEVEN
LMR RB-QB Troy Correa
LMR QB Troy Correa looks for a win

It’s time for our fearless Forecasters to step forward. RICK STONE was 16-1 last week to raise his overall record to 83-18. Here are his picks for this week:

FDR over Washingtonville -- The Presidents get a slight edge over the homestanding Wizards in this AA-II battle between frustrated, winless teams… O’NEILL over Red Hook -- The Highland Falls Raiders have a few more weapons which include senior QB Aaron Kilner (now the section’s #2 leader in career passing yardage) and the RB tandem of Chruch Pfeil and Darryle Griffin … NEWBURGH over Pine Bush -- Now with a loaded backfield, the Goldbacks must still eliminate theBushmen this week and then, probably, Kingston to make the playoffs. According to historical precedence, it’s a good bet that they’ll do just that … MONROE-WOODBURY over Warwick -- When the gun smoke clears, the champs will be left standing … MINISINK VALLEY over Valley Central -- The Warriors will win this contest to determine the #2 seed from AA-II, but look out for the Vikings in 2010 … WALLKILL over Port Jervis -- Veteran Wallkill has been the season-long favorite to win the Class A title. Now it‘s crunch time. After the playing the up-and-down Raiders, the Panthers meet Cornwall … NEW PALTZ over Marlboro -- This important game could go either way, but since the Dukes aren’t on their home turf, we’ll give the edge to the Hugies … ELLENVILLE over Pine Plains -- The Blue Devils are way too strong for the Bombers … SULLIVAN WEST over Spackenkill -- The Spartans are in need of a win but the Bulldogs have too much bite … ELDRED over Chester -- We’ll stick by our #3 ranked small team, but Chester beat the ’Jackets twice last year. As usual, this game between intense rivals is a toss-up … MILLBROOK over Liberty -- Despite their blowout loss to Ellenville last wek, the Blazers should bounce back in what should be a close and important game for both teams … KINGSTON over Middletown -- The Tiger passing attack should enjoy the Faller Field fast track … LMR over Harpursville -- In a game between 1-5 teams, we’ll give the home team the edge … HIGHLAND over Burke Catholic -- Highland’s defense has a shutout string of 19 straight quarters going. Now Coach Relyea would like to see his offense get geared up for sectional play. He’d also like to avoid more injuries. Josh Duggan and Cody Weaver are playing hurt while Mike Fallatik is apparently out for the season … CORNWALL over Goshen -- The Green Dragons will certainly be sharpening their offense with Wallkill awaiting them … TRI-VALLEY over Onteora -- Versatile Pete DiMilia leads the Bears to their second victory of 2009.

Prognosticator RICH ARNOTT was Mr. Perfect last week (17-0) which makes him a blazing 32-1. Here is what the soothsayer sayeth this week:

WASHINGTONVILLE over FDR – Something has to give for one of these struggling teams this week and the Wizards will have the Homecoming atmosphere on their side … O’NEILL over Red Hook – The home town Raiders have played well the last two weeks and have a versatile offense that could keep the visiting Raiders guessing … NEWBURGH over Pine Bush – The Goldbacks have a great offense that should eventually overpower the Bushmen … MONROE-WOODBURY over Warwick – Little brother just won’t stop pestering for another chance against the Grand Poobah of Section Nine and this should be a fun game regardless of the final score … MINISINK VALLEY over Valley Central – The Warrior defense could make the difference in this very big AA-II contest … WALLKILL over Port Jervis – The Panthers get back to Class A action after mauling Section One’s Dover last week. The Raiders will need to get the offense going to stay in this one … NEW PALTZ over Marlboro – Despite losing 7-0 to state-ranked Highland a week ago, the Huguenots have played some good football lately and the Dukes don’t play nearly as well away from home … ELLENVILLE over Pine Plains – Another stepping stone on the way to bigger Class C contests for the Blue Devils … SULLIVAN WEST over Spackenkill – The Spartans ran on all cylinders last week but the Bulldogs can get pretty mean on Friday nights … ELDRED over Chester – This long-anticipated matchup will bring a treat to those who want to see two good football teams go at it. Flip a coin … MILLBROOK over Liberty – The Blazers finally get the offense going again … KINGSTON over Middletown – The Tigers have more offense than the Middie Bears although I wouldn’t exactly call this an obvious choice … LMR over Harpursville – The Section Four Hornets come in struggling at 1-5 although they’ve lost a few relatively close games … HIGHLAND over Burke Catholic – Husky fans will probably expect more offense this week than seven points as you can’t expect to win by that total too often … CORNWALL over Goshen – Now out of the Class A playoff picture, the Gladiators play for pride but the Dragons will still persevere … TRI-VALLEY over Onteora – The Bears make up for last week against the struggling Class B Indians.
