RICH ARNOTT'S TOP SEVEN SECTION NINE FOOTBALL RANKINGS AFTER WEEK THREE

SNF Class AA/A

(1) NEWBURGH - The Goldbacks showed Pine Bush who was boss, 34-7. Now a short visit to neighboring Cornwall will intrigue SNF fans ... (2) CORNWALL - The Dragons are trying to outscore the basketball team, posting 63 against Wallkill. Tickets are still available via Ticketron (j/k) for the marquee Saturday afternoon home game with NFA ... (3a) MONROE-WOODBURY - The Crusaders have recovered nicely with solid wins away from Etzel at Wash/VC ... (3b) PINE BUSH - The Bushmen look to get back in gear as they host Middletown in week four ... (4) WARWICK - The Wildcats are 3-0 but have turned the ball over at least eight times. So far, their skill players and a few defensive plays have bailed them out ... (5) PORT JERVIS - Three Class A wins to start the season have the Raiders scalding hot! I doubt they'll allow Goshen to throw cold water on them ... (6) WASHINGTONVILLE - An outstanding second half against the Middies gets the Wizards within our sights. A solid game at Warwick in the AA-II opener for both squads should convince any skeptics ...  (7) ROOSEVELT - We'll show the Presidents some love thanks to that shutdown, defensive performance against Goshen.

SNF Class B/C/D

(1) NEW PALTZ - The Huguenots held serve with counterpart Marlboro by shutting down Liberty on the road ... (2) MARLBORO - The Iron Dukes beat Spackenkill convincingly, just like New Paltz did earlier ... (3) BURKE - The Eagles proved many in the section wrong with a big win over Section One's Dobbs Ferry, showing the state regional win was no fluke ...  (4) SPACKENKILL - For now the Spartans stay at number four due to talent and potential ... (5) CHESTER - The Hambletonians picked it up a bit with a wonderful victory over Section One Woodlands ... (6) O'NEILL - Two key away wins at Red Hook and Rondout get the Raiders going ... (7) LIBERTY - The offense sputtered against defending Class B champ New Paltz.

NEW PALTZ AND MARLBORO DOMINATE! BURKE AND CHESTER POST BIG INTERSECTIONAL WINS!!

RICH ARNOTT'S TOP SEVEN SECTION NINE FOOTBALL RANKINGS AFTER WEEK TWO

SNF Class AA/A Rankings

(1) NEWBURGH - Pulled out a tough win at Minisink to keep the top spot. Week three presents an early season showdown at Academy Field against understudy Pine Bush ... (2) PINE BUSH - Buckled down in the second half against VC standout QB Chandler Toth, and the Bushmen offense contributed 20 unanswered points ... (3) CORNWALL - Two relatively easy Class A wins have the Dragons rolling along to a meeting against struggling Wallkill ... (4 AA) WARWICK - A 4:05 Wildcatnap to start the third quarter woke up the long dormant Goshen faithful, but a clutch TD drive late in the fourth saved the Trophy ... (4 AAA) MONROE-WOODBURY - The Crusaders are back with a vengeance so look out, Vikings! (5) MIDDLETOWN - Two nice wins over tough Minisink and old-time rival Kingston fuel the Middies toward a week three visit from the Wizards ... (6) PORT JERVIS - The Raiders are 2-0 with two quality Class A league wins and Football City is excited! ... (7) MINISINK - The Warriors are 0-2 but lost a grinding seven-point game to Middletown and were within a TD of top dog NFA in the second half.

SNF Class B/C/D Rankings

(1) NEW PALTZ - The Hugies pulled away in the second half of a marquee matchup with Spackenkill and stay perched in the catbird seat ... (2) MARLBORO - The Dukes made the Huskies Black and Blue, taking the big Bowl game in a big-time way ... (3) LIBERTY - The Indians hold the third slot thanks to a narrow victory over Rondout, with New Paltz on its way ... (4) SPACKENKILL - Marlboro arrives in town so week three should make some things very clear in Class B ... (5) BURKE - The Eagles knocked off Millbrook and lost to a tough Huguenot team to make themselves better ... (6) CHESTER - Field conditions played a factor in a close-call, 6-0 win at Ellenville. The schedule gets a bit rough with Section One opponents Woodlands and Dobbs Ferry coming up ... (7) O'NEILL - Big win at Red Hook after losing to Marlboro, getting these Raiders aboard our Top Seven.
