This is a winner! When you have the ball near the opposition goal-line and a defender is advancing on you, the pass that pays is the chip back to one of your teammate. Chipping means lifting the ball into the air so that it goes over your opponent's head. The way to do it is to point your toe downwards so that you get your instep well under the ball when you stab at it. Lean your body back-arms outstretch. As you want height rather than distance, there is little follow through.
