Bombers Win the 23+ Division Championship Series
The Bombers defeated the Orioles in game three of their best of 3 championship series to win the 2009 SABL 23+ Age Division Championship.  This was a wild third game with several lead changes.  The final score was 14-13 with a game winning hit by Rick Evans in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Tigers Win the 35+ Division Championship Series
The Tigers defeated the Saints in game three of their best of three series to win the 35+ Age Division Championship.  The winning pitcher was Michael Godbee.  The game was decided in extra innings.

Wednesday, September 9
23+ Division Playoffs Begin September 17th
The 2009 SABL 23+ division regular season is nearly complete.  The Orioles secured the 1st seed in the West conference by finishing in first place during the regular season in their conference.  The Terrapins secured the 1st seed in the East conference by finishing in first place during the regular season in their conference.  The 23+ division playoffs begin September 17th.

35+ Division Playoffs Begin September 13th
The 2009 SABL 35+ division regular season is complete.  The Saints secured the 1st seed by finishing in first place during the regular season.  The 35+ division playoffs begin September 13th.

2009 Regular Season is Winding Down
The 2009 SABL regular season is 70% complete.  The teams are battling to improve their standings and their seed position for the playoffs that begin in early September.  Currently the Saints lead the 35+ division, the Terrapins and Braves share the lead of the 25+ East division, and the Orioles lead the 25+ West division.

SABL Opening Day for 2009
The SABL baseball season begins Sunday, March 29th.  The teams have been practicing and are ready to begin the regular season.  The SABL regular season runs until the end of August which is followed by the playoffs in September.  The SABL championship series is played the first week of October.

SABL Announces New Age Divisions for the 2009 Season
SABL will have two age divisions for the 2009 season.  The new age divisions will be 23+ and 35+.  Players that are 23 to 34 years of age will play in the 23+ division.  Players 35 and older will have a choice to play in the 23+ division, 35+ division, or both divisions.

The SABL 2008 Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, October 24th
The SABL 2008 Awards Banquet will be held on Friday, October 24th at the Carey Hilliard's Banquet Hall in Savannah, Georgia (11111 Abercorn Street).  The event will begin with a social hour beginnng at 6:00 PM (cash bar).  The buffet dinner will begin at 7:00 PM followed by the awards ceremony.  The SABL Cup will be awarded to the Bombers who won the SABL Championship Series.   Individual awards will also be given to players in the league that led in Batting Average, RBI's, Home Runs, Stolen Bases, Wins, and ERA.

Bombers win the 2008 SABL Championship Series
The Bombers, coached by Thom Brooks, are the 2008 SABL champions.  The Bombers defeated the Orioles in games 1 and 2 of the best of three Championship Series.  The format leading up to the Championship Series is the same as the College World Series (CWS) with two divisions (East & West)--each playing a double elimination tournament.  The Bombers defeated the Saints to capture the East Division Championship.  The Orioles defeated the Sharks to win the West Division Championship.  As done in the CWS, the winner of each division (Bombers & Orioles) played a best of three Championship Series for the SABL Championship.  Click on the below link to view the tournament bracket:

2008 Savannah Shootout Final Results
The 2008 Savannah Shootout baseball tournament is now a matter of record. This tournament was comprised of two age divisions, 25+ and 45+.  The 25+ division championship was decided by a game between the Warner Robins Tigers and the Savannah Tide.  The Tigers scored a run in the last inning to break a tie (3-2) and win the 25+ division championship.  The 45+ division championship was decided by a game between the Macon Cardinals and the Charleston Yankees.  The Cardinals won 5-4 in extra innings to win the 45+ division championship.

West Division wins 2008 SABL All Star Game at Historic Grayson Stadium
The 2008 SABL All Star game was held July 3rd at Historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia.  The West Division defeated the East Division 4 to 3 in the bottom of the ninth inning in front of a crowd of 3,500 fans.  The game was followed by an impressive fireworks show.   Click on the hyperlink below to view pictures from the game.

2008 Season is Underway
The SABL 2008 season began April 6th.  Each team will play 22 regular season games.  The regular season will end August 24th.  The playoffs begin the following week and conclude with the league championship on October 5th at Historic Grayson Stadium.

2007 Awards Banquet
Ninety two (92) players, coaches, and guests attended the SABL 2007 Awards Banquet Friday, November 30th at the Carey Hilliard's Banquet Hall in Savannah, Georgia.  The attendees enjoyed dinner followed by an awards ceremony for the SABL Regular Season champions (Terrapins), and the Post Season SABL Cup champions (Orioles).  Individual awards were presented for Batting Average (Jack Myers), RBI's (Rob Mills), Home Runs (Rob Mills), Stolen Bases (Drew Grosse), Wins (Jack Myers), and ERA (Harold Jones).   Buster Woods was presented with the SABL "Man of the Year" award for his tireless effort compiling/posting statistics and countless hours of field work.  This event concluded our 2007 season.   Please click on the below link to view pictures from the event.

Orioles Win 2007 SABL Post Season Championship
The Savannah Orioles won the 2007 SABL Post Season Championship Sunday October 28, with a 3-2 win over the Savannah Sharks at Benedictine.  Trailing 2-1 going into the bottom of the seventh, the Orioles scored 2 runs to take the title.  Rob Mills got a bases-loaded single with two outs to win the game.  Michael Kleinpeter gave up only 4 hits to get the win.  The Orioles are managed by David Mesaros.

Terrapins Win 2007 SABL Regular Season Championship
The Savannah Terrapins won the 2007 SABL Regular Season Championship Sunday September 23rd with a record of 16 wins and 5 losses.   The Terrapins are managed by David Morrison.
