Social Networking Sites and Protecting Your Identity
Online social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are increasing in popularity around the world. These sites allow a plethora of personal information to be released to the public for all to see. In fact, there is a huge stir in the media about companies reviewing social networking sites of potential employees before hiring. Some life insurance companies are using the information provided on social networking sites to try and predict habits of applicants to determine if coverage should be granted. In a recent example, Scarlett Johansson’s email account was broken into by a Florida hacker who used publicly available information found on social networking sites to guess the actress’s security questions. This is a prime example of why we should be more diligent about the information we put on the internet. Read More........
