Mustang A Still Alive!

Next game - SEMI-final against HART A, tomorrow, Sunday - 7/19/09 at 12:00 Noon.

COME OUT TO WESTHILLS BASEBALL AND SUPPORT THE MUSTANG A TEAM AS THEY BATTLE AGAINST ONE OF THE LOCAL TOP-RANKED TEAMS.

Game highlights against Santa Rosa A - three home runs...Tyler Orsini (2nd of the season, both in post-season play), Adrian Acosta (2nd of the season, both in post-season play) and Kody McLain (1st of the season).  Beautiful pitching from Andrew Nardi (1st three innings) and Tyler Orsini (6th and 7th inning).  Congratulations to ALL of the boys because they all contributed during the game!  Play tough tomorrow!

End-of-the-road for Bronco A

After playing two tough pool games, the Bronco A team was eliminated from All Star play today after having lost both games by only one run. Their hopes of moving onto the playoffs ended after Santa Ynez, with a runner in scoring position, managed to pulloff a successful squeeze bunt with the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning.  It was a very close play at the plate, but the call didn't go our way.

All Star teams are making us PROUD!

The Mustang A team won the Championship game at the Lancaster Section Tournament (Round 2) and will be moving on as the #1 Seed to the Westhills Region Tournament starting this Thursday (game against Westhills A at 5:00 pm). Congratulations on your victory!

Highlights from this weekend include three homeruns - Adrian Acosta (#1 of the Spring season), Tyler Orsini (#1 of the Spring season) and Jacob Smalling (#6 of the Spring season).  All players were rotated into the games, and the contributions of each player did not go unnoticed.  Total runs scored - 74, total runs allowed - 11...that says it all!  Excellent work, boys...keep those bats hot!

The Bronco A team defeated Bakersfield South West in the Semi's to secure a spot in the Region playoffs, but lost the Championship game against Northside A.  The Bakersfield SW team was a tough opponent, and was made up of the best players of the five teams who traveled to Santa Su from Bakersfield every Sunday to play in our own Select Division.  With the score tied going into the bottom of the 7th inning, the walk-off RBI was delivered by Alex Martinez, bringing in the winning run.  Congratulations to all of the players for moving on!

Sadly, it's the end of the road for the Shetland team, which lost all three of it's pool games, and didn't make it to the semi-finals.  We're sure if you ask any of the players, though, they'll tell you they had a blast!  Way to go, Shetland!
