Mustang Allstars Finish With 6-1 Record
Congratulations to the Santa Susana Mustang Allstars who concluded PONY tournament play at the Region tournament in Sylmar. The team's only loss in PONY play came at the hands of eventual Region, Zone, and World champions, Hart "A" who swept through the World Series in Irving, Texas in dominating fashion.

Santa Su had previously won the District Championship at East Valley and finished in 2nd place at the Agoura Invitational Tournament where all of their opponents eventually advanced all the way to Region. Their overall record was 9-3 and their record in PONY sanctioned play was 6-1.

Three Santa Susana Allstar teams were eliminated from PONY play with only a single loss this year:

Mustang "A" (6-1)
Pinto "A" (3-1)
Bronco "A" (2-1)

We are proud of all of our Allstar teams! Thanks to everyone for making it another fun summer of baseball!

Shetland Update
Submitted by Shetland Allstar Team Mom, Christina Andow

Highlights from Thursday's game:

The team shut them out two innings in a row with amazing plays made by Allison O'Toole (pitcher), Noah Walgren (shortstop) and Luke Keene (2nd Base). Eric Wenig (first Baseman) hit a triple driving in scoring runs. The final score was Santa Su 11- Simi Youth B 8! The team is on fire!

Friday's game was a tough one...we played Hart and the kids really tried. They were scoring a few runs in the beginning, but in the end, Hart prevailed 18-8.

Saturdays game was a good one! It was a very intense game all the way through.....we played East Valley. In the 2nd inning Peyton Schultze (third baseman) and Preston Donovan (left center/ catcher) hit in the park home runs! Followed by Eric Wenig (first baseman) hitting one in the 3rd inning. Treyton Wood ( right center/ catrcher) hit an amazing triple in the 4th inning! The team played their hearts out but in the end the score was East Valley 12 Santa Su 11! The team is excited to get out on the field on Sunday and play another game!

Highlights from Sunday:

Santa Su vs North Valley

The kids did great... we had a rough couple of first innings, but they got their heads in the game and fought hard in the end. Dakota Andow (left center field) made two amazing catches in the 4th and 5th inning, one a diving catch! Eric Wenig (first base) hit 2 Triples. Noah Walgren (shortstop) and Luke Keene (2nd Base) were the amazing duo again, making some great plays and catches. The kids did amazing but were defeated in the end by North Valley and will not advance to the next round. None the less, the parents and coaches are proud of each one of them for playing their hearts out! Go Santa Su!

MUSTANG DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!
The Santa Susana Mustang "A" Allstar Team brought home the District Championship Sunday defeating Simi Youth "D" 15-1 in the semifinal and Santa Rosa Select 14-6 in the Championship! Antonio Thomas had two homers in the semifinal with Devin Myrick and Carter Yankie adding homers in the Championship. The team had great pitching and defense all weekend. Pedro Contreras pitched two shutout innings in the semifinal and pitched the final three innings of the championship. Antonio Thomas closed out the Semifinal and Tyger Goslin started and went three innings in the Championship. The team turned several double-plays over the course of the weekend and did a great job shutting down the opponents' running game. With the victory, Santa Su earns a bye for the Section tournaments advancing directly to the Region Championships at Sylmar. Congratulations boys!

Shetland Advances, Pinto "A" and Bronco End With Broken Hearts
The Santa Susana Shetland Allstars will advance to the Hart Section Tournament after finishing in 4th place at the North Valley District Tournament. Wins over North Valley and Sylmar B advanced the team to the Semifinals at District. Great job boys (and girl!).

The Santa Susana Bronco Allstars battled for two wins at the Newbury Park District Tournament only to find out that they would not be allowed into the Semifinal after coming up short on the "runs allowed" three way tie-breaker. The team that won the tie-breaker, Agoura "B", was mercied by Santa Su 12-2. Way to battle Santa Su.

The Santa Susana Pinto "A" Allstars, after a great win over eventual champion Santa Rosa, lost in the North Valley District Semifinal to Hart "B". This unfortunately eliminates a very good team from Allstar sanctioned play with a 3-1 Allstar record, another one-loss Allstar elimination for Santa Su! We are proud of you guys and we know we'll hear from you again in the future!

Pinto "A" Wins Thriller
The Santa Su Pinto "A" team defeated Agoura "A" 1-0 on Wednesday to move to 2-0 at the Agoura Invitational Tournament. The game was tight defensively as Santa Su only surrendered 3 hits in 6 shut out innings with solid pitching performances by Kody McLain, Andrew Nardi & Tyler Orsini. Turner Nelson belted a blast on the first pitch in top of the 6th inning well over left field. The last play of the game kept suspense as a runner made it to first on an error. Tyler Orsini then buckled down and K'd the next 2 batters. The runner on first advanced to second on a passed ball. On the last at bat of the game a blooper fell over 1B, Sean Downey playing 2b backed up the play in RF, picking the ball up off the grass fired a strike to the catcher Adrian Acosta who nailed the runner coming home from 2nd and was tagged out 15 feet from home to win the game.
