Shetland Falls One Game Short
The Santa Susana Shetland Allstar team beat Simi Youth 10-9 Monday night to send the first ever Shetland World Series to a one game final. Unfortunately, the kids ran out of gas losing 16-5 in the second game. Santa Su finishes as the runner up after compiling a 6-2 record in Indio, with all eight games being played in 100+ degree temperatures. Congratulations to this fine team on their courageous run for the title.

Sunday, July 25
Five Down, Two To Go
The Santa Susana Shetland Allstar team, fired up by a raucous crowd, played tight defense and held on to beat Indio 6-5 on a hot and humid evening in the desert. They will now advance to the championship round Monday night versus Simi Youth. The boys will have to sweep a double header to capture the first ever Pony Shetland World Series.

We are so proud of these guys, battling the heat and humidity to go 5-1. Let's bring home the title guys.

One Step Closer
After a 6:00am cannonball contest, the Santa Susana Shetland Allstar team came out firing on all cylinders Sunday morning, beating Sylmar 12-2. The boys will face a very strong Indio team Sunday evening, the winner of which earns the right to play for the championship versus Simi Youth on Monday.

Saturday, July 24
Shetland Stumbles But Still Fighting
The Santa Susana Shetland Allstars lost to Simi Youth 11-1 Saturday morning in Indio. The boys did not play well getting only a few balls out of the infield and blowing several routine plays on defense. The loss sent them to a losers bracket game that evening against La Quinta in which they smacked the snot out of the ball and played lights out defense winning 19-4. They will face Sylmar on Sunday morning at 8:00am. They will need to win two games on Sunday to get to the championship game versus Simi Youth on Monday.

Friday, July 23
Shetland Wins Second Game
The Santa Susana Shetland Allstar team played well and defeated Coachella 16-7. The win sends them to the winners bracket semi-final of the Region tournament in Indio dubbed the "Shetland World Series" by Pony Baseball. The boys will face rival Simi Youth Saturday morning at 8:30.

Friday, July 23
Bizarre Happenings in the Desert
When the dream started, it was 7:00pm and 110 degrees. Waves of heat were visible rising from the dirt infield. The Santa Susana Shetland team was playing and were soundly beating their opponent, Indian Wells, in the first game of the Pony Region tournament in Indio. At the end of the third inning, the score was 13-3. Then the dream started getting weird.

Indian Wells started to hit. They kept hitting. At the end of the fourth inning, the score was 17-10. In the bottom of the fifth (Shetland games are 5 innings), Indian Wells, the home team, had the score tied 17-17 and the winning run was on third base. Somehow, Santa Su survived to play extra innings. Then the dream started getting stranger.

Santa Su scored thirty (30) runs in the top of the sixth inning. Then they shut out their opponents in the bottom of the inning, ending the game on a routine triple play. Final score: 47-17. But it was a very close 47-17. Strange things happen in the desert.

The dream continues Friday at 7:00pm versus Coachella.

Tuesday, July 20
Mustang and Bronco Eliminated
The Santa Su Mustang Allstar team lost to Hart 13-3 to finish as the runner up at the Pony Section tournament in Santa Clarita Monday night. The Santa Su Bronco Allstar team lost twice on Sunday to finish third in their Section tournament. Congratulations to both teams and all of the kids who represented Santa Susana this year. We are proud of all of you.

Monday, July 19
Good News and Bad News for Shetland
The bad news is that the Shetland Allstar team lost a heartbreaker in the Section championship game to rival Simi Youth, 13-12. The good news is that they will advance to Region in Indio by virtue of their subsequent 12-0 win over the Simi Youth B squad.

Monday, July 19
Mustang Splits
A classic rivalry was renewed Sunday, as the Santa Susana Mustang Allstar team fell to Hart 6-5 in the winners bracket final of the Pony Section tournament in Santa Clarita. Later in the day, Santa Su eliminated Simi Youth 12-3 to set up a rematch with Hart tonight at 5:00pm. Santa Su, coming out of the losers bracket, will have to beat Hart twice in order to earn the right to advance to region.

Mustang Wins Opener
The Santa Susana Mustang A team defeated Sylmar 16-4 to take the opener of the Pony Section Tournament in Santa Clarita. Reece Schmidt went 4 for 4 including three homeruns and a double and Ryan St. Peter added a 3 run homer to lead the offense. The next game for Santa Su will be at 1:00pm on Sunday versus the winner of Hart and West Hills.

Saturday, July 17
Shetland Wins Opener
The Santa Susana Shetland Allstar team defeated Ventura Coast 15-0 to take the opener of the Pony Section Tournament in Camarillo. Santa Su could advance to Region with a win over Simi Youth Sunday at 1:00pm.

Section Schedules
The Santa Susana Shetland team will open against Ventura at the Section tournament in Camarillo Saturday at 11:00am. The top two finishers from this tournament will advance to the final stop for Shetland in Indio.

The District Champion Mustang team opens tonight against the winner of last nights opener, Simi Youth vs. Sylmar. The winner of this tournament will advance to Region in East Long Beach.

The Bronco team, which was the second runner up at District, opened last night versus the host Hart team. Results will be posted as soon as they reach us. The winner of this tournament will advance to Region in Azusa (the winner of which will advance to Zone in Hawaii). Good luck Bronco!

Late update from F.R.: The Bronco team beat Hart 11-8. We were trailing 8-7 in the bottom of the 5th, when Andrew Rohrbach hit a grand slam homerun to put us up 11-8. They play on Saturday at 1:00pm.

Sunday, July 18
Bronco Beats West Hills
The Santa Susana Bronco Allstar team defeated West Hills 12-2 to advance to the Winners Bracket final at the Pony Section tournament in Santa Clarita. They will face North Valley Sunday at 1:00pm. These two teams squared off in the North Valley Invitational championship game in which North Valley came back late in the game to narrowly capture the title.
