2008 FAQ’s for SMASL

Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions that you might have.

When is the deadline to register my team for the upcoming season?

The deadline is MARCH 31, 2009.

Where do I obtain team and player registration forms?

You can obtain them on this website, by going to the HANDOUT section and downloading them.

Where do I turn in the registration forms?

1401 Olympic Blvd, Santa Monica, CA

at the Memorial Park – Community Adult Sports Office, located at 15 feet from the skateboard park.

What will my team costs be for this league?

You will have a few categories of costs and they are:

Team Registration Fees:  These vary depending on which league you enter.  Please the Team Registration form or the home page of this website for more information.  Check should be made out to the CITY OF SANTA MONICA. To be paid at time of registration.

Forfeit Bond:  $80 for a 7 vs 7 team and $320 for an 11 vs 11 team.  Checks should be made out to SMASL MANAGEMENT, not the CITY OF SANTA MONICA.  To be paid at time of registration.

Referee fees:  To be paid on the field, at the start of the match, paid in cash to the referee.  $20 per team, per game, for 7 vs 7 matches.  $80 per team, per game for 11 vs 11 matches.

What leagues are being planned?

We are planning to offer 7 vs 7 competition for Men, Women and Coed teams.  In the Men’s divisions, we will most likely have beginner, intermediate and advanced.  We offer the same designations for Women and Coed, however, the we have not yet seen enough teams to make three separate divisions.  If we do, then we will accommodate.

Men’s 11 vs 11 competition, currently being scheduled to play on Sunday's.

When will the different leagues play?

7 vs 7 competitions will play on weeknights and on Saturday.

11 vs 11 competitions will play on Sunday.

When will I know what my schedule will be?

By approximately  Apri1 15-21, 2009, you should be contacted to inform you what night of the week or which weekend day your team will be playing?

Can I request a certain night of the week or day to play on?

Yes, please let us know what preferences you have as we will do what we can to accommodate it, but unfortunately we can’t make any guarantees that we can meet everyone’s preference.  Please make a note on the margin of your team registration form, should you have a preference.

What time do the games start?

Weeknight games will most likely start at 7:15 PM, 8:15 PM and 9:15 PM

7 v 7 games on the weekends will most likely start the first game at 9:30 AM, and have kickoffs every hour after that, for every league that is playing.

Can I choose to play the same time every week?

No, this is not possible.  Your team will need to be able to play, at all of the time slots available and the schedule will tend to rotate your start times periodically from week, to week.

Will my team play the same day every week?

Yes, your team’s game schedule will be to play the same weeknight or same weekend day, every week.  That might only change, if there were some scheduling difficulties and/or make up games that needed to be made up, but this is very unlikely.

Does the league champion receive a trophy?

Yes, once the league is finished and the champions are determined, each league champion will receive one team trophy.

Can players play on more than one team?

Yes, players can play on more than one team, but they must play on teams that are in different leagues. They must also be registered with each team they decide to play on.
