The Santa Clara Juniors/Seniors/Big League 2011-12

Welcome players and parents to the home of the Santa Clara Juniors/Seniors Baseball Team website.  If you are not familiar with Junior/Senior League Baseball then you have come to the right place! We are the big brother of Little League Baseball, however, there are huge differences: We play with "real baseball rules" (such as leading off, pick-offs, and larger fields), the competitive atmosphere is stiffer, and  our Junior WORLD SERIES is in Taylor, Michigan  (on ESPN) and Senior League Worl Series is in Bangor, Maine (on ESPN).

This year we are fielding a Senior League Team for players that are between 15-16 years of age. Their season will start right after the end of High School Baseball.  In addition to the Senior League level of play, we are exploring the possibility of adding a Big League Team for players that are 16-18 years of age!  In the following weeks we will be updating this information.

A Giants Breakthrough!!

The second game between the Giants and Ray was played yesterday and marked a great breakthrough for the Santa Clara Giants. In the last two years, the Rays were able to come away with victories when they faced their inter-city rival. The most memorable of these wins was last year's District 44 TOC Championship Game when the Rays walked away with a very controversial 8-6 victory in front of 2,000 fans at Santa Clara University's Schott Baseball Stadium.

The Giants turned those tables around with a 10-6 win over the Rays in a game that was not even close, and at one point it had the Giants up 10-2 going into the bottom of the 5th inning. The win now places the Giants on top of the Standings at 14-1 with the Rays falling to Second Place at 12-1. If these two teams were to meet again it would be in the District 44 TOC Championship Game June 21, 2012 at San Jose Municipal Stadium...

Santa Clara's Rays and Giants Face Off to Determine First Place

On Monday May 21, 2012 the two undefeated Santa Clara Junior Teams faced off in a battle to determine which team would take sole possession of First Place in the District 44 Junior Standings.  In a close hard fought game, the Santa Clara Rays won in commanding fashion by a score of 4-1.  The Rays now stand alone on top of the Junior League Division with a 12-0 record, and the Giants maintain sole possession of Second Place with a 13-1 record.  The two teams will face each other again on May 23, 2012 to complete the season's two game series.

Santa Clara Baseball Loses a Great Coach

Santa Clara Junior Baseball lost a great coach this week with the passing of Lou Sousa.  Lou came to the Junior’s from Santa Clara Westside Little League where he served as a Coach, Mentor, and Board Member.  Lou contributed immediately, and was big reason why both the Santa Clara Rays and Giants played in the District 44 TOC Title game. Lou's Rays came away with the championship trophy; our Program gained a tremendous amount of respect; We will miss you Lou!
