The 2010 High School Prospect Camp at Santa Clara University offers serious student-athletes the opportunity to receive quality instruction from exceptional and experienced baseball coaches. In 2005, SCU baseball staff designed and implemented the summer High School Prospect Camp format to attract quality baseball talent to our Bay Area Campus. We believe that the experience offers student-athletes the chance to grasp what sets Santa Clara University and Bronco Baseball apart from other colleges and universities across the country. Bronco Baseball demands that its athletes work hard every day at a relaxed, intense level with much energy and enthusiasm, and our Prospect Camp is no different. Our goal is for you to experience first-hand how we teach, practice, and play the game here at Santa Clara. At the same time, it offers our entire coaching staff the ability to view players such as you in person in an extremly competitive environment. At the end of camp, we will allow you to develop a positive approach, mentally and physically, to the game.
Each day, each player will receive defensive practice at his noted primary position (including pitchers), offfensive instruction, participate in a competitive game. Players will receive an evaluation from the coaches following the Camp. As noted, the applicant must choose one position in the Camp, but players are assigned to teams using their selected primary position. Based upon last year, we anticipate a wait list at every position. Confirmation of registration or wait list will be emailed prior to the beginning of camp. Further information (travel forms, medical forms, daily schedule, list coaches, etc.) will be emailed the beginning of July 2010.
**CAMP WILL BE LIMITED TO INSURE A GOOD SHOWCASE ENVIRONMENT AND THE BEST POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOWCASE THEIR TALENTS TO THE SANTA CLARA COACHING STAFF***
Prospect Camp FAQs Even if I live close to Santa Clara, should I come? Yes. Bronco Baseball has designed the camp to offer both local and outside prospects the opportunity to demonstrate their baseball skills in as competitive an environment as possible. Members of the Bronco Baseball staff, as well as top coaches, will participate in the camp in some capacity. Prospects will leave the camp with added baseball knowledge as well as a sense of what it is like to be instructed within the Bronco baseball program philosophy. In addition, our camp offers the "commuter" option for local players who want to attend camp yet do not wish to remain on campus overnight. Please note commuter campers are responsible for their own meals. We strongly recommend campers consider the overnight option, as campus meals will not be made available at an extra cost prior to camp. Do players from this camp ultimately get recruited to play at Santa Clara? Yes. Numerous players have first been "discovered" at our prospect camp, and we hope that this year is no different. By allowing players to play baseball at a competitive level on our campus, our staff is allowed the opportunity to concentrate and offer feedback to players instantly. Will players receive any type of evaluation once they leave our Prospect Camp? Yes. After camp, players will receive a comprehensive written evaluation outlining both the player's strengths and areas that will enhance his game. Where should I send my completed application if I wish to pay via check and not register online? Send completed applications to: Santa Clara University Baseball, Attn: Chad Baum - Camp Director, 500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, CA 95053. Registration can also be done online at scubroncobaseballcamps.com. Can a player register for more than one position? The Prospect Camp is filled on a first come-first served basis by primary playing position, and the applicant must choose one position for which to apply. You may play at more then one position in the Camp, but players are assigned to teams using their selected primary position. We will have a wait list at every position. |
