A typical day at Santa Clara Baseball Camps will include prompt and friendly checking at the camp desk. Parents have the option to say goodbye for the day or stay and watch any, if not all facets of the camp activities. Campers will then proceed to a warm-up jog, then a thorough stretching session led by camp coaches. Stressing the fundamentals, each day will consist of the correct way to play catch. All activities will stem from here. A usual day will focus on the fundamentals of the game in the morning, a lunch break and recess midday, and then any number of games throughout the afternoon. After camp is concluded for the day, parents will pick up their children at the dugouts in Schott Stadium.
Which airport is best for flight arrangements for the baseball camps?
San Jose International Airport (SJC) is located less then five minutes from SCU and Schott Stadium. Other airport options include San Francisco International Airport (SFO), located approximately 40 minutes north of campus, and Oakland International Airport (OAK), located 40 minutes north in the East Bay.
Even if I live close to Santa Clara, should I come?
Yes. Bronco Baseball has designed the camp to offer both local and outside
prospects the opportunity to demonstrate their baseball skills in as
competitive an environment as possible. Members of the Bronco Baseball
staff, as well as top coaches, will participate in the camp in some capacity.
Prospects will leave the camp with added baseball knowledge as well as a
sense of what it is like to be instructed within the Bronco baseball program
philosophy. In addition, our camp offers the "commuter" option for local
players who want to attend camp yet do not wish to remain on campus
overnight. Please note commuter campers are responsible for their own
meals. We strongly recommend campers consider the overnight option, as
campus meals will not be made available at an extra cost prior to camp.
Do players from this camp ultimately get recruited to play at Santa Clara?
Yes. Numerous players have first been "discovered" at our prospect
camp, and we hope that this year is no different. By allowing players to
play baseball at a competitive level on our campus, our staff is allowed the
opportunity to concentrate and offer feedback to players instantly.
The Prospect Camp is filled on a first come-first served basis by primary playing position, and the applicant must choose one position for which to apply. You may play at more then one position in the Camp, but players are assigned to teams using their selected primary position. We will have a wait list at every position.
