  Welcome

Monday, April 28
Welcome to the Official Website of the 12U Sandlot Cobras

2010 Cobras:

The Cobras conducted tryouts for the 2010 roster on SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2009.  The coaches are in the process of selecting a team, however, a final roster has not yet been set.  Any interested families should contact Dave Gorsge (dgorsage3@comcast.net) to learn more about the possibility of trying out for the 2010 Cobras.

The Cobra "Player-Development Plan":

*    Create a POSITIVE environment where players are not afraid to make mistakes
*    Create an environment that teaches players to bounce back from mistakes and focus on making the next play
*    Emphasize the "team concept" of baseball
*    Be as competitive as possible
*    Prepare the player to play competitively at the high school level
*    Work on core skill development for each player
*    Work on core physical strength development for each player
*    Develop the mental aspect of the game (including the not-so-basic rules of the game)
*    Limit our pitchers to a reasonable number pitches per game
*    Develop a "pitching staff" comprised of 6-7 pitchers rather than 3-4 pitchers
*    Encourage and provide opportunities for players to learn more than one position
*    Play a 40-50 game schedule that involves a limited and manageable travel schedule (i.e., not every weekend)
The Cobra Family Plan:
We believe it is important that our boys (and their families) be allowed to enjoy other aspects of summer in addition summer baseball.  Our plan is to play one tournament in late April, and then 2-3 tournaments in May, in June and in July, making sure we leave time for families to do other things besides baseball.  We would anticipate an occasional doubleheader now and then as well.
The Cobra Goal:
To continue the tradition of competing as one of the top local (Indianapolis area) and regional (state of Indiana) youth baseball teams.
