San Angelo Valkyries '91 Girls Soccer


According to Norse mythology, the Valkyries are the "Choosers of the Slain,"
that is, they are the Maidens of Odin who choose the Heroes who are to be slain in battle,
then conduct said Heroes to Valhalla.

We are a group of U18 girls from San Angelo, Texas.
We all started playing with & against each other in the San Angelo Soccer Association
Recreational League eventually competiting as the San Angelo All-Stars '91.
Fall 2003 was our first season of competitve soccer as the Valkyries in the West Texas Premier League.
Our coaches are a bunch of Soccer Dads - Paul Horeis, Dave Danner, Ben Connally and Randy Dumas
with alot of help from Brian Weaver and Sean Mcgary.

The Valkyries are saying goodbye to Brian Weaver. He has spent the last four years being a leading figure with our team. He is being stationed to Korea for the next few years but the commitment & coaching that he left our special group of girls will never be forgotten. I would like for the next two years to be filled with fun & development for the ladies as some of them look at not only high school ball but also college ball.

The 2008 Fall Schedule was our last together as San Angelo Valkyries '91

The girls are now either finishing their high school careers or moving on to other teams effective this spring.
