The small, but noticeable cracks that are beginning to surface are in plain sight to Mike Glennie.

Whether his Saline High School football team is seeing the same imperfections, however, is still yet to be determined.

And after the Hornets watched visiting Temperance Bedford execute its offense to near perfection in a 40-7 victory Friday night, Glennie warned that if his players don't fix the little things, their season will come crumbling down in front of them before they know it.

And he made certain they knew that the structural improvements could no longer be put off.

"They've got to make a decision and this is on them," Glennie said. "They're talented kids with a lot of potential, but potential isn't going to do anything for them.

"We didn't play well – all the way across – and the energy....we've got some internal things that they need to make a choices on what they want to have happen."

Saline (2-2, 0-2 Southeastern Conference) surrendered 40 straight points after needing less than 6 minutes to put points on the scoreboard. But after Joe Boisture and James Gentile connected on a 92-yard touchdown pass, the Hornets' ability to reach the end zone came to a quick and sudden stop.

Bedford (3-1, 2-0 SEC) experienced no such issues, accounting for all of its 343 yards of offense on the ground. Quarterback Jared Kujawa covered 145 of those yards, scoring three times on a 17-yard run before plunging into the end zone twice from a yard out.

Zach Messer also scored twice, breaking through Saline's defense for scoring runs of 54 and 46 yards.

"They executed their game plan," Glennie said. "They did exactly what they wanted to do. They put the ball in their athletes hands, dominated the line of scrimmage and didn't make too mistakes.

"We didn't take care of the football and we didn't wrap up tackles all night long."

The Hornets turned the ball over twice and was 0-for-2 on fourth-down conversions. And even when they marched down the field, reaching the Bedford 1-yard line late in the fourth quarter, the Kicking Mules' defense slammed the door shut, keeping the Hornets out of the end zone as time expired.

The night proved hard to swallow for Saline's veterans, who are suddenly charged with pulling their team together before the Hornets' season slips away.

"Right now, this is just embarrassing," Gentile said. "I feel like everybody feels like that. Losing 40-7 on your home field - that's never going to feel good. We just have to pick each other up and we just have to fight."
