Monday, September 4 Game 1 - Whitney Point 21, Seton CC 0: from Press and Sun Bulletin Staff Reports * Whitney Point 21, Seton CC 0: Nate Manwaring ran for 138 yards and two TDs and host Whitney Point's defense stifled Seton Catholic Central en route to the victory. Manwaring returned the opening kickoff inside the Saints' 25-yard line, and several plays later scored on a 6-yard run to give the Golden Eagles a 6-0 lead just 2:49 into the game. WP then put the game away with two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Manwaring scored on a 9-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter to help make it 14-0. Mason Musshafen added a 49-yard touchdown run. Meanwhile, the Saints could only muster 167 yards of total offense. "I think our team was more geared to running straight forward than them," said WP coach Mike Hakes, noting his team's size advantage. "Over time I think that might have worn them down a bit." Chris Perry led Seton CC with 50 yards rushing.
