Friday, January 3 Weightlifting Canceled for Saturday Jan 4th Due to the Weather the Saturday Morning Weightlifting has been cancelled. We will start on Tuesday at 3pm. Weight Room Open The weight room is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15 until 6:00. It is also open on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. It is imperative that we get a better turnout for these sessions if we are to have a successful season. We are not going to win games just because we are in a lower division. We must ban together as a team, and this must take place in the weight room. Saturday, March 8 Weightlifting Schedule Changed!!! The schedule for weightlifting is changed immediately to the following Tuesday and Thursday - 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Saturday - unchanged - 9-11 am This will allow students in Spring Sports attend practice and still get in lifting. It also better accomodates the Coaches schedules. See you there!!! Saturday, April 12 Coaching Change - Varsity Staff Moving to Semi-Pro Coach Johnson announced today to the players that he and his Coaching Staff of Ken Bidwell and Kevin Wagstaff have been offered and have accepted positions as the BC Jets Coaching Staff. The Coaches expressed the difficulty with which the decison was made and how much they will miss the players and parents. Coach Johnson assured the students that they will continue to support the program and will be available during the transition to a new staff. Schedule for Weightlifting is expected to be the same. Monday, October 13 JV Shutout Harpursville 20-0 Saints JV defense held Harpursville scoreless on Saturday and continually put the offense in good field position. The defense recovered 3 fumbles, intercepted 1 pass and blocked 1 punt. There were many stars on defense that day with crushing tackles, quarterback sacks, blocked passes, and forcing loss yardage. Colin Ballard recovered 2 fumbles and Bill Bernier 1. Nick DePofi intercepted a pass which setup one of the Saints touchdowns. Lee Rogers blocked a Harpursville punt attempt. Offensively the Saints struggled with 10 penalties and fumbled 3 times but only lost 1 of those fumbles. Yet the offense was able to score 3 touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Saints' quarterback Luke Daly led the offense having to scramble several times to avoid tackles. He scored 2 of the Saints' touchdowns and passed for a third TD. Evan Tripicco, on a halfback pass, passed to Luke on one of those touchdowns. He also scored the last touchdown of the game on a pass from Luke. Offensive Stats: Andy Matias 7 carries - 46 yards Evan Tripicco 9 - 43 (2-pt conversion) Luke Daly 7 - 33 (TD) Bill Bernier 1 - 15 Chris Kline 2 - 10 Evan Ekstrom 6 - 3 Luke Daly 2 catches - 42 yards (TD) Evan Tripicco 2 - 33 (TD) Andy Matias 2 - 13 Evan Ekstrom 1 - 11 Luke Daly 5 pass completions - 10 attempts - 57 yards (TD) Evan Tripicco 2 - 3 - 42 (TD) Sunday, October 19 Saints Finish 2nd in their Division (Click for full story) Unatego won the toss and elected to Receive as the game which would decide the Division champion began. Wednesday, October 22 JVs lose to Unatego 34-6 Saints JV defense couldn't stop Unatego in the first half, allowing them to score 34. The Saints offense kept stalling with panalties or turnovers each time they were moving the ball down the field. Each of these led to Unatego touchdowns. In the second half the the Saints held Unatego to 0 points. The Saints scored on the first play of the 4th quarter with a 2 yard dive on the left by Colin Ballard. The Saints were playing with 3 of their starters on the sidelines with injuries. The Saints JV team never gave up in the game. Sunday, October 26 JV Beat by Greene in Last Game of Season Saints JV lost a tough played game to Greene 24-12. The Saints drove down the field on the first possession of the game and scored to take the lead 6-0. Again in the first quarter the Saints scored another touchdown to go up 12-0. Colin Ballard scored on a 2 yard run and Dan Danoski scored on a 15 yard pass from Luke Daly. Both extra point tries were unsuccessful. Greene scored in the second quarter on a blocked punt and were successful on the 2-pt conversion. At the half the Saints led 12-8. In the second half Greene scored twice. One was on a bad snap to the Saints punter with Greene falling on the ball in the end zone. The other was on a punt return of 30 yards. Both of Greene's 2-pt conversions were successful. The Saints failed to score in the second half. The Saints defense was successful in stopping every Greene offensive drive of the game. If not for the 3 unsuccessful punt attempts, Greene would have been held scoreless. The Saints (young) JV team end this season with a 2-5 record.
