Sunday September 13th:

Mighty Vikings fight hard but drop 3 of 5 to the very tough Vacaville Bengals. 

The Bengals Mighty Mights and Jr Pee Wees brought the teams containing thier best players (orange) and shut out the Vikings youngsters.  The Bengals also brought a tough Midget squad to play and they beat the Vikings by a narrow margin. The Vikings Pee Wees made up some ground with a drubbing of their counterparts from Vacaville.  The Jr Midget game was the most exiting of the day as the Vikings let an early lead slip away and went down by one point with only a few minutes left in the game.  The Vikings were driving for the winning score but fumbled the ball away on the Bengal's 10 yard line. Then, after a dramatic defensive stand the Vikings reclaimed the ball and with 30 seconds left in the game and with no time outs left they broke off a 25 yard TD run that iced it.

The Mighty Mighty Vikings took on a determined Vallejo Jaguars organization and came out with a clean sweep.  The Jr Midgets had a bye week as the Jaguars did not have a squad.  The Mighty Mights and Jr Pee Wees had an easy time of it, and dispatched their foes fairly easily.  The Midgets fought hard and long with their Vallejo counterparts in a very hard hitting game and emerged on top thanks to a strong 4th quarter.  The Pee Wees closed the day by breaking a scoreless tie in the 4th quarter of a fierce defensive game.  They punched two TDs in and completed the sweep for the Mighty Mighty Vikes!!

On a day that will live in infamy, the Vikings went down to Solano County and shot themselves in the foot with penalties over and over until the Warriors had no choice but to take 4 of 5 from the Mighty Vikings.  The Jr Midgets alone had 4 TDs called back on penalites and lost by one point.  A dubious clock situation allowed the Warrior Jr Pee Wees to score a tying TD on the last play of the game to salvage a tie in a game they had been totally dominated in.  What can be said other than, we shall return.
