As pursuit to the S.G.S.L. Inc. dba Shakamak Youth League Inc. constitution, any section of the league constitution can be changed at any officers meeting with 2/3 majority votes by the officers at said meeting.
On August 22, 2010 there was a motion made in the officers meeting to change the S.G.S.L. Inc. dba Shakamak Youth League Inc. from a MEMBER ORGANIZATION to a NON-MEMBER ORGANIZATION. The vote was unanimous as there was 12 officers present at the meeting.
Simply put...this means that there will not be elections for officer positions at the "annual meeting" any more. Once a person is an officer then they continue to be an officer of the league until they resign or are voted out by the other officers. The idea of changing to a non-member organization was to ensure that the people who have worked many hours and hard work for the league would be guaranteed their officer position the following year. The constitution before the change stated that anyone 18 and older could run for an officer position, whoever got the most votes won the position. The merit system should be implemented and has been implemented in the change of the league constitution by rewarding the one's who have dedicated themselves to the league. It would not be fair for someone to bring in a number of people just to vote for that one or more person(s) when they probably have not done much for the league, they want to join when all of the hard work is over. This will not happen in the future.
Officer vacanies will be filled as needed by allowing first choice to the vacancy to an existing officer, I.E. a coordinator wanting to fill a vacant equipment manager position. If no existing officer wants the vacant position then the officers will discuss in detail about possible nominees and will act accordingly.
