Tuesday, September 29 2009 Coaching Clinics to be held within the Northern Zone Below is a list of USA Hockey coaching clinics being held this fall in the Northern Zone. To register for one of these clinics, or for a complete list of clinics being held in NY or nearby states, please go to www.usahockey.com.
Wednesday, June 3 Important Details about the SYHA Coaching Program SYHA COACHES MEETINGS 2009-10:
SYHA COACHING REQUIREMENTS: All head and assistant coaches AND helpers on the bench must: 1. Be registered with USA Hockey as a player/coach for the current season. Schenectady Youth Hockey Association will reimburse its rostered coaches for this expense. Once you are registered and are listed on an approved USA Hockey team roster, it will trigger your accidental insurance coverage for that team's activities. Click Here to register with USA Hockey. When you receive your confirmation number, please email your USA Hockey confirmation with the bar code on it to Claire Oliver at coliver4@nycap.rr.com. If you are already registered with USA Hockey as a PLAYER/COACH through another organization or association (ie, a men's hockey league), please let us know. You only have to register once, but we need to obtain information from you in order to put you on the roster. Please note: registration as an OFFICIAL is a separate process and does not fulfill the requirement to also register as a player/coach. 2. Complete the NYSAHA Screening. New York State Amateur Hockey Association requires that all rostered coaches and other helpers who have contact with the players complete an online screening process. A few important things to note about this:
3. Obtain the appropriate USA Hockey Coaching Education Level. USA Hockey requires that coaches attain the certification levels listed below by December 31st of the current season. For more details regarding the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program, or to find clinics being offered nearby, click here. Plan ahead! Clinics are generally only offered from Sept-Nov in a handful of locations around the state. Note: When you register for a clinic, please use the exact same name as you did for your USA Hockey registration or the USA Hockey database will not contain your up to date coaching certification number. SYHA will reimburse our rostered coaches for the cost to be certified at the required level. Please send your receipt showing the cost of your certification clinic to Colleen Grabb at mgrabb@nycap.rr.com. You may renew your Level 3 Certification by taking an online exam rather than attending a clinic. Click on "Coaches" at www.usahockey.com for more information. 4. All requests for reimbursements will be processed in November. Thank you very much for your time and efforts coaching our players, starting with all of these administrative items!
