Coach's Corner - Physical Conditioning

I expect each player to pick a non-practice evening to devote at least 1 hour to personal training. This can include a long distance run 3-5 miles minimum, sit-ups, push-ups, crunches, leg lifts, lifting (with parental supervision), and wind sprints. Starting next week, I want each boy to start recording a 3 mile time. I want that time reported to me at least twice a month. The goal is to get the whole team under 30 minutes for a 4 mile run before the end of the fall season. It is fine to have two days of personal training but I would NOT recommend working out every day. The body needs some downtime and with the way that the boys are growing right now, I don't want them to overexercise their joints. I am going to be asking them to certify the extra workout in a logbook showing what they did each week on their extra day or days. Keep in mind that Boris will be running around Burke Lake every Saturday at 9:00 am. He invites any of the Red Tigers to join him and he is not charging us for this training. That can count as your extra day as well.  

 

I REALLY want each boy to be able to run 4 miles in less than 30 minutes before the season is done. I also expect each boy to wear their RED practice Jersey on Monday's and a WHITE shirt on Thursday practices. 

This season - out of practice conditioning and practice participation will be reflected in player playing time.
