Sunday, February 10 Registrations, Assessments done; let's play ball! 4 registrations net SVL 263 players, right around our number last year. We have 1 Junior BB team, 2 Majors softball, 2 Minors softball, 3 Majors BB, 5 Minors BB, 6 Farm, 5 Rookie teams. No Senior or Junior softball this year. Anyone in those groups we can release to neighboring leagues so you may still play. Particularly proud to have 68 girls playing, believed to be an all time high. We have 1-2 roster sports open for Minor girls (ages 7-9), same for Minors boys (ages 9-11), and plenty of spots open for Rookies (5-6) and Farm (baseball ages 7-8). Majors BB, SB and Juniors BB are closed. We expect Minors BB and SB will soon be as well. Get in while you can. Teams are now being formed, coaches are calling players and team meetings and practices will begin this week. PLAY BALL! Thursday, January 17 First Two Registrations Net 175 Excellent turnout, matching or exceeding last year's numbers. Strongest dvisions include baseball 9-12 and girls softball 7-12. Weaker turnouts in Junior Boys and Girls (13-14) and Rookies (ages 5-6). Need more numbers there. We still ahveneed for Juniors softball and baseball coaches. Also Rookie coaches. Could use more umpires too. Please contact us to help. 2nd assessment is 1/26 and if baseball players 9-12 do not assess, they will not be placed on a team, but rather placed on a wait list. Hopefully we can get everyone out to the fields and hae a fair, fun draft. It's going to be agreat season and we hope you join us. Saturday, January 13 SVLLL Board Votes Changes in Divisions To better align ourselves with the playing rules of Hesperia National, our 2007 interleague partner, we have changed our softball divisions. We will now have the Majors division for all girls 10-12, and a Minors division for girls 7-9. The 7-9 group will be player pitch from 35 feet. Another change this year is at Majors and above, there will be ONE player exception per coach (generally the coach's child). Newly eligible Majors players will be subject to a draft if SVLLL remains at 2 teams. If the league expands to 3, all players will be re-entered into the draft pool.
