Gus Donolo & Soccer the Brazilian Way

Gustavo Donolo (Gus) has played and taught soccer to children for most of his life. Born in Argentina, Gus moved to Brazil at an early age where he learned to play the exciting, fast-paced and highly skilled "Brazilian Style" soccer.

Gus began playing soccer professionally at the age of 15 and quickly rose to the top ranks of South American soccer. He played on top-rated first division teams in Brazil and Argentina and consistently one of the top scores in league and tournament play. In addition, he played for Argentina's National Indoor Team and Brazil's National Beach Soccer Team.

Locally, Gus has served as the head coach for the Northern Regional Olympic Development Program (ODP) Boys U-19 team. He coaches a NCSL team and a WAGS team in addition to training select and travel teams. In 2004 Gus is also serving as a coach for the Super Y League (SYL) Boys U-14 team and was recently Virginia State Champion with his U-15 boys team. In 2005 Gus will take his team to Regionals.

Coaching Objective
Coaching is a unique responsibility that brings the warmest rewards to facilitate the development of young players by educating and training them on skills of the game and principles of play. I will reinforce our teams confidence by encouraging player's performance without being critical of their mistakes. Create an environment where players are encouraged to be creative and think for themselves. The coach should act as a role model and set high standards of behavior. All this should be done in a fun environment, which promotes enjoyment of the sport, and a passion for the game.
