Technique with Anna Blair
Starpower Dance is honored to have its dancers learn technique through Anna Blair.
Anna Blair has a BFA in dance performance from SMU and is certified by the
state of Texas to teach Secondary Dance. She has been the director of
various jazz programs and a co-producer of annual musicals, which she
choreographed featuring 300-400 Dallas ISD students. During her 30 years in
the dance field, she has trained with numerous professionals in many of the
various dance disciplines. Though Anna has a broad background in ballet and
modern and loves it, she has equally extensive credentials in the jazz
technique. She has performed many featured roles in various jazz and
musical theatre venues including Seattles 5th Avenue Theatre and the
Houston Grand Opera. Her performing has given her the opportunity to work
with Tony Award winning choreographers like John DeLuca, Academy Award
winners like Rob Marshall the choreographer/director of Chicago and many
other famous performers such as Roy Clark, JoAnne Worley and Ron Raines.
Dancing has also afforded her the chance to perform for renowned and
legendary individuals like Nancy Reagan and Tommy Tune as well as to dance
abroad in Europe. Along with performing, Anna has had several years of
experience choreographing, training and critiquing drill team members and
gymnast for competition performances.
Anna is the director of 2 the Pointe Dance and teaches drill and dance part time at Rockwall Heath High School. She also teaches Technique and Ballet/Lyrical Classes for beginners and intermediate/advanced dancers at Texas Elite in Mesquite, on Sundays. Anna also offers private lessons for solos, duets and trios.
