Juventus' Namesake
![]() |
In 1897, a group of young students from Turin, Italy, got together to form a new soccer club. The name they gave the group: Juventus, form the Latin word for youth. In the years since, Juve has grown into one of the most successful in Italy and Europe. They have won the league title 27 times and the Coppa Italia 9 times. The Bianconeri have also won the UEFA Champions League twice, finished as runners-up five times, and won three UEFA Cups. Juventus has contributed many great players to the Italian National Team, including 5 members of the World Cup - winning squad in 2006.
pronounced [ju'v?ntus] or simplified for the rest of us: y oo - v eh n - t oo s

Who is Juventus Of Shorewood?
Shorewood Soccer League searched for a competative partner to match the ideals that we hope to instill in our players. We reviewed the local organizations and found Juventus. The Juventus youth soccer program is dedicated to helping players reach their maximum potential both on and off the field. They want their players to do the best they can in life as well as in soccer. The program will help prepare kids to be ready for High School and College soccer. They offer Professional training at all times to all our players. The club supports soccer players from Plainfield, Joliet, Shorewood, Channahon, Minooka, Oswego, and Morris to name a few communities.
Kids in the club are taught to play a constructive soccer game. They work
on proper ball handling skills, passing skills, specific plays for specific
situations, and strategies for winning.
We believe the difference lies with the fact that at Juventus, the coaches train with the teams and also attend the games. The Juventus coaches make sure that what is taught in practice is applied to the game. There are several clubs in the area which hire trainers to train their teams. However most of the time the trainers do not attend the games. We feel this is a big mistake, since there is no way the trainer can assure what is trained during practice is applied in the game.
Juventus coaches participate in scrimmages with the kids, and show the correct tactics, drills, and maneuvers. They make the game of soccer easy to learn, plus they make sure the kids are having fun as well.
They are always open to anyone wishing to tryout for a team. If you have any questions please contact the director of Coaches John Jacob at juventus@youthsoccerclub.org
