Shorewood Soccer League: Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
I forgot to register, and the deadline has passed! Can I still register?
You can still mail your registration to, or drop it off at, the Shorewood Village Hall. You'll have to include a $25.00 late fee for each player registered late. If an opening exists, your child will be placed on a team. Otherwise, you child will be placed on a waiting list. We try to place all children on teams, but there are no guarantees. So, please register early.
U12 and U14 teams are capped at 18 players each.
When will we hear what team my child is on?
Coaches get their rosters at the coaches meeting, typically held 2 to 3 weeks before the season starts. They begin calling the players after that meeting.
A coach never called me, what do I do?
First, check the calendar to see if the coaches meeting has been held. This is usually held 3-4 weeks before the season starts. Spring Season is usually April through May and Fall Season is usually September through October. Coaches are requested to call all players within 1 week of the meeting. If a week has gone by and still no call, please email the league and we'll look into it.
Do I have to be a Shorewood resident to play?
No. There are no residency requirements or tiered pricing for folks living in other towns.
My child has never played soccer, will she be able to be on a team? Are there try-outs?
We are a recreational soccer league, therefore we do not have try-outs. If you pay, you play. Many children in the league start out having never played soccer. We feel most kids sign up to have fun.
I was a line-judge during my daughter's game - does that count toward my volunteer hours?
No. Line-judging is simply a parents responsibility to help the team, like providing snacks or drinks for a game. If you accumulate 2 hours by assisting in the concession stand or helping set up fields prior to games, you'll get your fee returned. Of course, if you are the coach, assistant coach or team parent, then you get your volunteer fee back as well.

I helped out at a few practices for my daughter's team - does that count towards my volunteer hours?
No. Only volunteers who have signed up through the League and has had a background check on file can receive their volunteer check back for coaching. If you are interested in being the actual Coach or Assistant Coach, please discuss this with the Coach and then contact the League Head of Coaches.
