Shorewood Soccer League: Fields

Fields behind Troy Crossroads School on Black Rd. East of Rt. 59 in Shorewood. Click here for map.
The Shorewood Soccer League wants to remind parents, players and coaches that there are plants growing along the fence line (on the West side of the fields) that have been tentatively identified as Poison Ivy. We encourage all individuals to keep away from the fence line until something can be done. Poison ivy is a woody plant showing tremendous variation in growth pattern and leaf characteristics.
Growth may be either as an erect shrub, a vine climbing by aerial rootlets on fences, walls or trees, or the plant may lie prostrate on the ground.
Leaves are arranged alternately and are compounded with three leaflets, These three leaflets on a leafstalk are usually referred to as "leaves in groups of threes." The leaves may have a dull or glossy surface or may even be somewhat hairy, especially on the lower surface. The edges of the leaves are either smooth, toothed or somewhat lobed. Just to be safe, remember the saying..."Leaves of three, let it be!"
