Girls aged 4 (as of 8/09) - 3rd grade may attend early sign ups or can opt to sign up in May at our regular Fall sign ups.

YOU WILL ONLY PAY FOR REGISTRATION ($60) AT EARLY SIGN UPS!!!

Sneakers, bloomers, bodysuits, socks, and hair bows will be ordered and paid for in July to prevent any issues with sizing.

We have some new coaches/coordinators joining us this season and we're excited to have them onboard. A big welcome to Jess Cassium, our new skills and development coordinator, Gina Clifton, our new gymnastics and tumbling coordinator, and Coach Rebecca Abruzzese.

Some of our junior coaches from last season will be graduating from PHS this June and moving on to college. We wish you all the best of luck and thank you for the time and energy you put into our program through the years.

I would like to extend an invitation to the new 2009/2010 PHS/OMS/SMS cheerleaders to come junior coach at SPYA.  Please contact me ASAP if you are either returning to us this season or if you are new and interested in joining our program.

Still have your uniform from last season???  It MUST be returned ASAP. Please contact either myself or Wendy to get your uniform back to us.  There are only a handful still out there, so call today!!

If you have any questions, or would like to offer your help for the Fall 2009 season, please feel free to contact us at:

We are also going to have our tumbling coordinator with us to show you, with the use of our cheerleaders, what they learned this year in their tumbling classes!!

This is also an excellent opportunity for you to turn in your CLEAN uniform if you are a Tiny Trojan cheerleader, an 80lb football cheerleader, a 105lb football cheerleader or if this weekend's playoff games don't go well, the 95lb & 125lb football cheerleaders.  We are hoping for successes for our boys, but if they don't continue on to round 2 of the playoffs, please turn your CLEAN uniform in at the party in a BAG WITH YOUR NAME AND SQUAD ON IT.

Competition girls will continue to perform until the 22nd of November.  We will arrange for one final  uniform night after their season ends.

Thank you for your support this season, parents.  Without you, we can't continue to do what we do for these girls!

SPYA vs ALTON PARK 95's - 125's, 80's in NORTHAMPTON

Directions to Alton Park....

Take 309 south to 78.  Get off the Lehigh Street Exit.  Turn right at the end of the exit ramp at the light onto Lehigh Street. At the 2nd traffic light, make a right onto Oxford/24th street.  Field is about 1/2 mile on the right.

Schedule:

Alton Park vs NPAA Flags game is played at 9am.  This could end up affecting the entire day.  A flag game is usually over within an hour or just over an hour.

The 95lb game is on the schedule at 10:30, but it must start as soon as the Flag game ends, so be prepared for an early start.

The 105's are scheduled to start at noon, but again, depending on when the Flag game ends, this may throw the schedule and games may start early.

The 125's are scheduled to start at 1:30pm (again, games may start early).

The 80lb team will be playing today at 4pm in Northampton since Alton Park does NOT have an 80lb team.

Directions: Take Route 22 East to Route 145 North (MacArthur Road) and turn right at the stop light at Route 329. Follow that to Horwith Drive (The Brick Yard & Pittman Photography are there) and turn right. Follow Horwith Drive to field.

If games are delayed or canceled due to weather, this website will be updated as soon as we are notified.

GO! GO! GO S P Y A !!!!   :)

Looks like we're playing football :)

There's been no word of changes to the football schedule, so dress appropriately today, ladies.  Don't forget the windsuits.

If I remember correctly, Mountainville charges a "donation" at the gate.  Not for kids or coaches...but parents will be asked to donate $1 to enter the field.

See you in Mountainville!

All Practices Tonight are at Cetronia Elementary School

Due to the open house at Parkway Manor, all practices are being held at Cetronia Elementary School on Broadway in Allentown.  There will be NO TUMBLING CLASSES tonight.

Not sure where Cetronia Elementary School is? If you head to Parkway Manor from Tilghman Street and normally make a left onto Parkway Blvd....DON'T!  Take a Right instead.  At your first traffic light, make a left onto Broadway.  The school is about a mile down the road on your left (past the cetronia fire company and the cetronia ambulance corp).

 See you tonight!
Kerrie      &    Wendy

This Saturday is homecoming!!

As a reminder, this Saturday is SPYA'S HOMECOMING GAME!!

Pittman Action Photography will be on the field taking pictures of our girls & boys as they perform this weekend.

The girls (or the parents) are welcome to make signs to celebrate their cheerleaders!  Make sure your sign is made on durable paper, poster board...and that it has 2 holes punched in the top and has STRING attached. The posters will be hung on the ropes that surround the field.  YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN STRING!  Bring your signs 'ready to hang' and find a spot on the ropes!  Remove them at the end of your game to make room for the next squad and then enjoy them at home. :)

We are asking volunteers to make some baked good for the girls to have at the end of the football game.  Cupcakes, brownies, cookies...whatever you would like to share with your squad would be an AWESOME way to end a homecoming game!!

Thanks again for all of your support!

Kerrie  &   Wendy

GAMES MOVED TO SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th STARTING WITH THE 80's AT 11AM!!

Good morning, SPYA parents and cheerleaders!!

Due to the current conditions of our field, and the weather forecast, the football games have been moved to Sunday, September 13th.

The 80's will play at 11am (parents in the stand from 10am - noon)

90's will play at 12:30 ( There are only 4 girls not attending the stunt clinic, so these 4 girls will not be expected to cheer at the game. HOWEVER, parents are still needed to work the coke stand!! your schedule is 12 - 2)

105's will play at 2:00 (parents are expected in the stand from 2 - 4pm)

125's will play at 3:30. (parents are expected from 4 - 5:30 when we clean it up/shut down)

This is the best schedule we can have on a Sunday to allow for early morning religious services and not have our 125lb kids on the field too late.

If you are going to the stunt clinic, GO! Have fun, and learn a lot, ladies!!

Coaches or team moms, please contact me about grabbing the bodysuits I have for your teams. I will be in NY for the Yankees Game Sunday and not on the field.

As for those apparel orders, please get them to your coach or team mom on Sunday (either on the field or at the stunt clinic) so I can get them in to our distributors on Monday.

Thanks for all of your continued support!!

Apparel sheets are Online!

We have 2 cheerleading apparel sales running together this season and both forms are online under our handouts section under cheerleading.

Please fill out your forms and get them back to your team moms this Thursday, September 10th. Final orders will still be taken at the games Saturday, but no later than that.

We did have a few parents ask about a long sleeve shirt this season, so we are offering one at the same price as the short sleeve shirt and with the same design.  The youth sizes are only available in solid black, the adult sizes are available in black and also in red.

Keep in mind that we chose to change up the design on the black shirt.  Instead of having a gray megaphone, it will be red.  I think it stands out more on the black shirt and doesn't get lost in the crystals.

If you are in need of a form, and cannot download it from the site, please see me at practice or see your team mom. We were able to hand most of the forms out at the games, but if you didn't receive one, please let me know!

I am really looking forward to seeing all of our families sporting our new SPYA apparel this season!  It's perfect for games and for competitions!!  We are looking forward to working with our newest vendor, Lilly daVid, as well.  Quality merchandise, cool new designs, and a quick turn around time, and all reasonably priced!

If you have a male you would like to buy SPYA football apparel for, please get those forms into the football commissioner, Sean Gill, this thursday or at the game on Saturday.  Remember that if you are ordering apparel from football and from cheerleading, YOU MUST WRITE SEPARATE CHECKS.

Thank you for your continued support of SPYA Cheerleading.

Great weekend in football and in cheerleading! TUMBLING HAS BEGUN!! :)

I would like to thank all of the parents that volunteered to help out at the coke stand and the apparel stand this past weekend for our 'home opener'.   We were busy all day saturday, and our parent volunteers kept it fun the whole time! :)

The girls looked AWESOME on the field. I was so proud of all of your daughters.  They have learned so much in such a short time, and are improving every day!  I am really looking forward to this weekend's games and, of course, YOUTH NIGHT when we can show our girls off at the Parkland Stadium!

Tumbling started tonight and what a successful night it was for coaches and girls alike!  The girls learned new skills and new techniques that will surely help them grow as cheerleaders and as athletes overall.

Just a reminder...No waterbottles are allowed in the schools.  We also don't need any towels since the girls are stretching out on mats.

The tumbling program is CLOSED to parents and siblings.  Please drop your child off in the hallway outside of the gym, and pick them up in the same hallway. NO PARENTS OR SIBLINGS ARE TO ENTER THE GYM DURING OR AFTER TUMBLING.  The girls have only one hour to get through many stations . The doors opening and people entering will only distract them from their class.

Thank you for your consideration.

Competition Information

South Parkland Parents,
I tried as best I could to quickly discuss all that entails competition cheerleading on 8/19 !
However,the storm cut things short.
I have uploaded a flier explaining all of the important information.
If you have ANY questions, please email ME not your coach so that everyone is getting the same information and coaches are not burdened with emails and can focus on their squads.
You will find the flier in the handout section of our web.
Competition cheerleading is a lot of fun ! I love coaching it AND watching it !
Our 2 months of practice (2-3 days a week) may see like a lot.
However, our actual competing time/season is over in one month !!
I hope to see a lot of the girls come give it try... and I can't wait to see YOU the parents cheering like crazy up in the stands supporting your daughters !!

All Star Clinic...What do the parents do ?

Upon arrival to the gym parents are asked to escort cheerleaders into the building for registartion. At this time please properly register, view the facility and know that your cheerleaders are going to have a great experience and most importantly are in good hands.

Parents are asked not to stay for the clinic.

Rocket Elite staff and SPYA coaches have members with proper training and certifications for basic medical needs if any, and will provide plenty of supervision for this session.

Parents may return to observe the last 30 minutes to see the progress the girls have made.

We are recommending carpools to conserve in many ways.  If you are able to help, please check the box on the bottom of the registration form.

For those who are driving and wish to stay close during the clinic there are a variety of restaurants, some shopping and even a Regal cinema in the area.

*All Star Clinic registration forms can be downloaded and printed out under the "handouts" section of this SPYA cheerleading website.

Rocket Elite All Stars Stunt Clinic

                           SUNDAY – September 13th    12:30 – 4:30pm

Through the years cheerleading has evolved from a sideline spirit activity into a sport of its own!  Cheerleading today is a combination of chants, dance, jumps, stunting and tumbling.  On the side-line or a competition floor, a well rounded cheerleader possesses all of these skills.  Recognizing this SPYA cheerleading has made changes and additions to our own program in addition to continually looking for further opportunities that will directly benefit our cheerleaders.

A Stunt Clinic is a focused session to specifically work on better building techniques, partner and group stunts, transitions, pyramids, creative entrances, and dismounts. In addition our cheerleaders will have the opportunity to gain performance techniques and tips to improve and/or polish elements individually and as a team!

This stunt clinic will be hosted by Rocket Elite All Stars at their cheerleading center located in Hanover Township.  The gym facility has three (3) full size cheerleading floors, two (2) spring floors and 1 standard recreational competition floor.  The Rocket Elite staff has put together fun cheers, dances and specific stunting for our teams.  The Rocket Elite cheerleaders will also be assisting in teaching through performance demonstration in addition to hands on with our own coaching staff.

South Parkland Cheerleading and Rocket Elite are excited to join together and make this opportunity possible for our cheerleaders.  We Highly recommended this clinic for all cheerleaders, competitive and non-competitive as it will benefit each cheerleader’s individual abilities in addition to helping them at a team participation level also.  Each cheerleader will receive a participation T-shirt which is included in the registration fee.

Registration is $30.00 per cheerleader and due by Thursday, September 3rd.          Make checks payable to SPYA.

Please know thatthis is not a fundraiser all fees are specifically for this clinic.  To prepare and organize we would like to know as soon as possible if your cheerleader(s) will be attending.  Please fill out the registration form and return to your coach as soon as possible.

WE HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!

If you would like to know more about Rocket Elite please visit their website at www.rocketallstars.com

Tumbling Coordinator's Welcome Letter

SPYA Tumbling Welcome to SPYA Tumbling Program: SPYA tumbling is committed to teaching your child the basic fundamentals of gymnastics, while providing them with the foundations to safely execute each skill.  The program is designed for children of all ages and skill level because the program promotes self confidence by improving children’s fine and gross motor skills, promoting better balance, strength and coordination, while having fun!

About the Coordinator: SPYA’s Tumbling Coordinator is Gina Clifton.  Gina was an 8 year Jr. Olympic competitor & 12 year Jr. Olympic & Recreational Coach.  She also taught acro-gymnastics for 3 years and was a cheerleading tumbling coach for 1 year.  Gina is NYSCA Cheerleading Certified, a member of USA Gymnastics and possesses her USA Gymnastics Safety Certification.  Gina’s philosophy is that every child can benefit from gymnastics/tumbling on any level, because it promotes self confidence, improves a child’s overall physical health and offers a continuous level of skills that can be learned in a rewarding environment!

Class Location: All tumbling classes are held at Parkway Manor Elementary School unless otherwise noted.  Classes will be held in the gym during their regularly scheduled cheerleading practice.  Cheerleaders must arrive at least 5 minutes prior to their scheduled start time in order to begin class on time.  Students arriving late will be required to complete their warm up, flexibility & conditioning prior to joining their squad for tumbling.  We understand unforeseen things can happen but ask that you please make every attempt to be on time because late arrivals will decrease the amount of time your cheerleader has to learn basic tumbling skills.  Due to limited space in the gym and the safety of the cheerleaders and coaches, tumbling classes will be a closed practice.  Although this is the case you can look forward to receiving monthly progress reports from their Cheerleading Coach.

Student Attire: Students are required to wear a leotard or tight fitted clothes for class. Parents, please refrain from sending your child in lose clothing for the safety of your child and their tumbling coach.  Children in lose fitting clothing will not be permitted to participate.  To further assist in preventing injury, please have your child’s hair up, pulled back and away from their face.  Also, remove any earrings, rings, necklaces, hats, etc. before class begins.

Student Evaluations: Tumbling students will be evaluated each class they attend to ensure they are working appropriate individual level skills.  At the end of each month each child will receive a progress report to read about skills they are currently learning and/or have mastered.

Sessions: The session is 3 months in length unless otherwise noted. Each cheerleading squad will have 1 hour scheduled to focus on warm-up, conditioning, flexibility & tumbling.  Please locate your squad below to determine what day and time your class is scheduled.
Squad Day Time

1st Grade Tuesday 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
2nd Grade Tuesday 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Sign ups are being held on Saturday, March 14th from 9am - 1pm and again on Wednesday, March 18th, from 6 - 8pm at the PARKWAY MANOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CAFETERIA.

This sign up is mainly to get our 4th - 8th graders fitted in their new SPYA uniforms.  We have size samples of the new uniform and want to get them ordered ASAP so we are ready for the 2009 season.  You are only paying  $60 for registration at this sign up.  We will fit the girls for bloomers, bodysuits, socks, sneakers and order hair bows in July. This should help to eliminate sizing issues we have had in the past.   Payment will be expected at that time.

We will be holding a second sign up in May, along with our Fall Sports; football, soccer and fall baseball, at Springhouse Middle School.  Girls aged 4 (as of 8/09) thru 3rd grade can attend either sign up, though ALL are encouraged to sign up EARLY in MARCH at PARKWAY MANOR!!

Online registrations are only available during our May sign ups.
