Clemens, Wildcats slide into first

POTTSTOWN - Anthony Clemens was the key man for Owen J. Roberts, both at the plate and on the mound, Wednesday.
Clemens ripped a two-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to snap a tie and spark Owen J. Roberts to a 7-5 win over host St. Pius X in a Pioneer Athletic Conference game.
The win moved the Wildcats (12-3) into first place in the PAC-1O, a half-game ahead of Boyertown (11-3).
Clemens also took over on the mound from Steve Lerch in the fifth inning, pitching the final three frames. He scattered three hits, gave up two runs, walked three and fanned three.
The Wildcats held a 5-2 advantage after 4 1/2 innings. But Pius scored three runs in the bottom of the frame to tie the score, sparked by Kevin Kieffer's two-run single. Kieffer also smacked a solo homer in the fourth. Matt Lesinski went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Lions (9-6).
Lerch (2-for-4) drove in two runs for the Wildcats, while Ben Yeager was 3-for-3 and scored three runs.
