NBAC Far Easterns Meet Information
Start Time Changes The prelim and finals start times have been adjusted. We are going to start the AM sessions at 7:30 AM. The pool will open for warm up at 6:00 AM. Finals will start 5 minutes earlier, at 5:40 PM. The pool will open for warm up at 5:00 PM. All warm up sessions will be “Open”. Lanes will be designated as “Start” and “Pace” for the prelim sessions.
Timer Meeting We need to provide two timers for the Friday prelim session (Lane 1 of indoor pool). The timer meeting will be 30 minutes prior to the start time of each session.

MD Swimming Championship Meet
Congratulations to all the swimmers that swam at States over the weekend. There were a number of best times, and Stingray firsts!!
- Kaylyn Hewes became the first Stingray State Champion by winning the 9-10 Girls 50 Back. She also placed second in the 50 fly.
- Thomas Williams became the first Stingray swimmer to qualify for Sectionals. He made it in the 100 Back.
- Finalists were Kaylyn Hewes, Ally VanNetta, Derek Dunn, Chas Brother, and Thomas Williams.

We had a very successful State meet this season! Here are some of the highlights:
Kendall Hamlin - 6th in 50 Breast, and 7th in the 100 Breast

Great job by the swimmers at the Mariner Meet over the weekend. There were a lot of best times, and a lot of improved time standards. We also had three new State Qualifying Swims: Maya Brown (9-10 Girls 50 & 100 Breast) and Kendall Hamlin (9=10 Girls 100 IM). Great job by everyone!

RAC Classic Results
Congratulations to all the swimmers that swam at the RAC Classic meet over the weekend. The Stingrays set 13 team records, had 10 new state cut swims, and 7 swimmers qualify for finals. In addition, Derek Dunn received the High Point Award for 11-12 Boys! He placed top three in all of he events, and swam to 5 "AAAA' times! Great job by all the swimmers!

Afternoon sessions (12&Under): Warm-ups: 12:00 NOON, Session Starts: 1:00 P.M.
** The morning session warm-up and start time has been pushed back 1 hour on both days. Warm-ups will begin at 8:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m.. This means that the morning session start time is now 9:00 a.m. both days.
Directions:
Take I-95 North to 195 West. Take first Exit off 195 West, which will lead you onto the UMBC Campus via UMBC Boulevard. Turn Right onto Hilltop Circle and then Left onto Administration Drive. The pool is on the right behind the UMBC Fieldhouse. Parking Lot 10 is in front of the Fieldhouse.

Stingray Swimmers at 2006 National Black Heritage Meet
Congratulations to Maya Brown, Sierra Hicks, and DJ Brown for being part of the top scoring Maryland Team at the 2006 National Black Heritage Meet in North Carolina over Memorial Day Weekend. All three swimmers swam very well, with many best times and some Stingray Top 10 times. Congratulations!

MAC Mini Meet
Congratulations to the swimmers that participated in the MAC Mini meet over the weekend. There were a number of good swims turned in. Special congratulations to Erin Daugherty for her first place finish in the 6&under girls 50 free, and Bridget Jordan for first place finishes in the 9-10 Girls 50 Fly and 200 IM.

Hotel Information for States and Jr Championships
Reservations for the block of rooms reserved for the Maryland State Championships and Jr Championships have been extended to February 19th! This enables swimmers to see how they do at the ASC and GBSA meets before reserving rooms!
The block of rooms has been reserved at the Comfort Inn in Solomons, MD (255 Lore Road, Solomons, MD 20688, (410) 326-6303). If you have any questions on whether you qualify or not, please ask the coaches.
For the State Meet, the rooms are reserved for Thursday, March 2 through Sunday, March 5 at a rate of $89.00 plus tax. We have 15 rooms (Ten 2 Queen beds/non-smoking and Five 1 King bed/nonsmoking).
For the Jr. Championship Meet, the rooms are reserved for Friday, March 10 through Sunday, March 12 at a rate of $99.00 plus tax. We have 30 rooms (28 Two Queen beds/non-smoking, and two 1 King bed/non-smoking)
The rooms are registered under the group name "Severna Park Stingrays". Individuals should call up the hotel (410-326-6303) and reserve one of the rooms blocked under the group name. All of the rooms have a microwave and small refrigerator. They also have a continental breakfast (6A-9A weekdays/7A-10A weekends). The hotel is approximately 17 miles from the pool.

The Stingray 8&Unders had two meets over the weekend. They opened with a great meet on Friday night at the Naval Academy Mini Meet. There were a number of best times and first place finishes. 2005-06 Stingrays Swim Team
Parents and Swimmers,
We will be mailing out a letter this week to the 2004-05 swim team members asking for confirmation on their return for the 2005-06 season. This letter will give information on the upcoming season and will indicate the group that the swimmer will be in next year. The deadline for reserving your spot is 11:59PM on Friday, July 22nd. After this date, your name will be put at the end of the existing waiting list.
All returning swimmers from the Sunday Night Groups, Angelfish, Swordfish, and Piranhas will be guaranteed their spots if the paper work is returned before the above deadline. Spots on the Shark and Barracuda groups will be filled through tryouts held at the SPRFC Open House in August.
There are a couple changes that will be taking effect in the 2005-06 season regarding meet participation. Participation in meets is one of the true gauges of a swimmers progress and a teams progress. With this in mind:
1.Beginning with the 2005-06 season, swimmers will be required to attend at least two meets during the season (September through May) to guarantee their spot on the team the following season. We had a very successful season in 2004-05, and we are looking at continued team success at the state and national level. Unfortunately, this limits our ability to accommodate swimmers that are interested in staying in shape for other sports or summer swimming without competing in meets.
2.Time Trials will be held for all swimmers at the end of September. This will provide a baseline of times for the season. After this point, the Angelfish and Swordfish will hold time trials every six weeks (their season practice plan will be broken into six-week cycles.) There will be no time trials during the season for the Piranha, Shark, and Barracuda groups. Progress in these groups will be gauged by weekly test sets and meet participation.

Stingray Swimmers continued to improve in their Long Course swimming over the weekend. Phillip Ratlief (4 events), Bridget Jordan (4), Erika Koenig (1), and Rachel Koenig (1) each qualified for finals! Hilary Badger had four best times out of her five events! Excellent job by everyone.
NAAC A-Buster Meet Information

RAC Classic Day Results
Day 3: The Stingrays finished the meet with three more records! Bridget Jordan broke the 9-10 Girls' 100 Back Record with a time of 1:18.15 and she finished fifth in the 100 Fly with a record time of 1:14.94. Sydney Keer broke the 11-12 Girls' 100 Back record with a time of 1:11.60. Great job!
Day 2: On day two of the RAC Classic, Hilary Badger broke the team 11-12 Girls' 100 Free Record with a personal best of 1:04.11 and qualified for Finals in the 50 Back, placing eight. Sydney Keer swam personal bests in both of her events. Another great day!
Day 1: Congratulations to Bridget Jordan, Hilary Badger, and Sydney Keer who swam for personal bests in all their events at the first day of the RAC Classic! Bridget made it to finals in the 50 Fly, placing 7th with a time of 33.46. She also broke the team record in the 9-10 Girls' 50 Breast with a time of 40.87. Hilary broke her own team record in the 11-12 Girls' 50 Fly with a time of 31.30, and Sydney broke the team record in the Girls' 11-12 200 Back with a time of 2:40.23.
