THE TEAM: The South Texas Heat will field a Semi-Pro 54 man roster with players coming from all different walks of life. Most of the players work locally and currently attending Del Mar, Texas A&M CC, Texas A&M Kingsville. There are also professionals, and businessmen who play and mentor these young athletes. Some are guys who had an injury in high school, or college that put their football dreams on hold. These players are engaged in this sport for either the development of the skills for a higher level of play, or they are die-hard football athletes willing to give one last effort to this demanding sport. Head Coach Whitney Tanner has a vast experience as a minor league athlete, and as a local football coach. Assistant Coach Charles E. Young JR. will be the Offensive Coordinator Coach Jimmy Zamora will be defensive line coach. New coach John Vanmeter will take over as offensive line coach. We hope to add more coaches as our season starts.
OUR MISSION: The Heat organization will work with the players who wish to increase their knowledge and their ability in football to help get them to the "next level". We desire to foster a sense of discipline, sportsmanship, an excellent work ethic, and pride in our team, and the community around us. We will strive as a team to serve as role models and leaders by playing tough football and promoting numerous community service projects for those less fortunate. FUNDING: The Heat will raise money as a team by offering low cost Barbecue's and other positive fund-raisers that will provide a great benefit for the community. We would also like to provide local businesses with an opportunity to support our team. For Sponsorship information contact Coach Tanner at 361 242-9283
HEAT GIVING BACK: The Heat will in turn endorse your business by placing your logo on our team banner and apparel, or appearances upon request. We are "THE COMMUNITY's TEAM", here for the community and always willing to help out our sponsors. We also want to create a "family" amongst our sponsors and our organization to promote that "closeness" and the referrals that the business world relies drastically on in today's market
