Kevin Devine passed away yesterday. Kevin served as President of the Southern New England Youth Football Conference from 2000 through 2006 and was the representative for Norwich Youth Football from 1992 through 2000. He was also a long time coach for the Norwich Youth Football League culminating in a SuperBowl Championship in 2002. Kevin's reign as President was one of the longest and most successful in the history of the SNEYFC. His leadership and willingness to tackle the tough issues was a significant driver in unifying the foobtall and cheering operations after years of conflict and disagreements. He also was instrumental in taking the Conference into the electronic age, and in standardzing the level of play for all leagues in the Conference. Kevin had successfully fought melanoma several years ago, but cancer returned earlier this year with a vengeance, ultimately winning yesterday November 21, 2009. Kevin was all about the kids and teching them to work together, how to win and how to lose. Football was simply the medium he used to get the lessons across. His untimely passing leaves this area just a bit less capable of preparing the next generation for life's challenges. Kevin's favorite word to dispell a disagreement was "PEACE".... We hope he has that now and that his family can also find peace. |
The Regular Season has concluded. Congratulations to all the team that made the playoffs
