OSPREYS 2007 Fall Activities
In the fall, the Ospreys 12U and 14U teams practice on Sundays at John Lancaster Park, times TBD. The 16U team coached by Kevin Cioppa will practice in the fall on Mondays and Wednesdays at John Baggett Park in Laura Grove. In late fall and winter, we practice inside at the Public School Gyms. In March, we will move outside for the 2008 season to practice and continue our preparation. We practice Sunday afternoons to avoid conflict with recreation leagues and high school teams. The Ospreys encourage our players to participate in their community recreation leagues and school teams.
Ospreys 14U and 16U teams will play in their hosted Ospreys Fall League at Chancellors Run Regional Park on Sunday afternoons. The Ospreys Fall League include travel teams and high school teams. 2007 Season Highlights
In the 2007 season, the Ospreys grew to three teams. The 12U, 14U and 16U teams competed in Pony, NSA and SoftballNation sanctioned tournaments.
Ospreys 16U 2007 Team demonstrated pitching dominance and offensive potency in their tournament play. Coach Cioppa in his second year at helm is very please with his team's 2007 performance. Coach Cioppa thought their competition was tough all season but his girls were true fighters on the field of play. Coach Cioppa is excited about his team's 2008 season chances of being an elite team. Coach Cioppa plans to keep this team together and continue to work hard through the fall and winter. Coach Cioppa plans to take his team to four tournaments in the fall and play in the Ospreys Fall League.
Ospreys 14U 2007 Team - new team for 2007. Team played in four tournaments under Pony and SoftballNation sanctions. For most players, this was their first experience with travel softball and its level of play. Most of these players were active Little League and Babe Ruth players. During the week, these players practice with their recreation league teams and on weekends they practice with their travel teams. Many players saw an improvement in their softball skills through competing at the travel ball level. At the same time, they had fun, and made new friends. This team started to peak at the completion of the their tournament schedule. Many of it's players will graduate to the 16U level and plans to play at that level for the 2008 tournament season. Coach Sewell thought their great work ethics contributed directly to their skills improvement and the team's success.
