Coaches Corner:
12/19/2011

It was pretty evident from how we performed this past weekend on all levels that we need to amend the December practice schedule. 

The rest of this week, Tuesday-Thursday we will practice from 4:00-6:00pm. 

Next week, Wednesday and Thursday 4:00-6:00pm.  Friday and Saturday 8:00-11:00am. 

This should insure that we will be more prepared as we come back from break. 

Varsity and JV dual Lansing and Gardner right out of the gate first week back on Wednesday January 4th and then the Bonner Tournament for varsity Saturday Jan. 7th.

Coaches Corner:

11/30/2011 

 

We had the best attendance for a booster club meeting in a long time, but it could be better.  We have a tournament coming up next weekend here at NW and we will need everyone that can possibly volunteer, to please call or email me and I can get your information to the booster club.

 

I saddens me to say that due to unforeseen circumstances,  our long time Booster President Cathy Everett, Vice President TJ Ernsdorff, and Secretary Kim Kaberline have resigned.  This is a huge loss to our program and I/we will miss them tremendously.  It is tough to lose such experience and dedication and maintain the level of success that we have had.  Thank you for your many many years of effort and organization.  TJ, hopefully you will be back someday.    These people have been instrumental in organizing so many things for our team behind the scenes.  They will be missed greatly. 

 

With that said, I am pleased to announce that we have had others step up and take on those positions.  Ron Almos has taken over as President, Mike Vanausdall Vice President, Janet Schnacker filled our Secretary position and Stephanie Barnhill stepped up to be Treasurer that was open from last season.  These are people who have been in our NW Wrestling community for years through both kids and high school.  I have every confidence that they will step right in without missing a beat. 

 

There will be another Booster meeting next Tuesday at 6:30pm to finalize preparations for our NW tournament on Saturday Dec 10th, hope to see you all then.

Thoughts on team outlook:

We will miss the experienced seniors, but we hope to re-load and improve on last year’s 1-9 dual record and 16th place finish at State.  We are returning five State Qualifiers and two that for sure would have been qualifiers if it were not for season ending injuries.  Our depth this year may play a role in our success as we don’t have as much experience on the bench.  We will give those younger kids a chance to get some varsity mat time throughout the year.  The Kids program here at Northwest keeps sending us freshmen that have the potential to make the varsity lineup, or at least push the ones that are here to get better if they want to stay in front of them.  I am very excited about the potential of this team.
