Important Dates/Deadlines
Registration and Volunteer Sign-Ups for the 2009-10 basketball season will be held at SJUMC and are as follows:
- Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Social Hall
- Thursday, September 3, 2009 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Social Hall
- Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, Multi-cultural Hall
Registrations will not be accepted after September 13th. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list, please email us at sjumcbasketball@frontiernet.net or contact Evan Kanenaga at ekanenaga@frontiernet.net. The waiting list will only be used if spaces need to be filled.
Players trying out for high school teams must also register by September 13th. Full refunds will be made after high school teams are selected.
Eligibility
Any boy or girl in kindergarten through 2nd grade is eligible for enrollment in our instructional program. Any boy or girl in 3rd through 12th grade as of September 2009 is eligible to play unless he/she meets one or more of the following criteria:
- Returning players with less than 10 attendance credits (as defined in the Player Attendance Requirements).
- High school team player.
- Players who played for a church, other than SJUMC, that participated in the NCCL last year (unless a waiver was obtained); waivers to switch churches must have been submitted by August 1st and approved by the NCCL board and both affected churches.
- Players who attend church other than SJUMC that participates in the NCCL (you must play for that church).
- Players who do not attend a church.
Registration Instructions
1) Obtain and fill out a registration packet using one of the following methods:
- Download the Player Registration forms and fill out the forms.
- Fill out the forms at one of the registration sessions (registration packets will be available at each registration session).
Please be sure to include an email on your Registration Form. Board members, coordinators, coaches, and team parents use email as a primary method of communication.
2) After filling out the registration packet, you (parent or guardian) must submit it in person at one of the registration sessions.
3) All fees and deposits must be paid by check only. Depending on which one of the NCCL Divisions a player is signing up for, make out and submit checks for the following:
- Registration Fee - Instructional is $60 per player; B,C,D,E Divisions is $100 per player; Family (3 or more players) is $250.
- Parent Participation Deposit - $150 per player (Will be returned if Parent Participation Requirements are fulfilled).
- Uniform Deposit - B,C,D,E Divisions is $75 per player; Does not apply to Instructional (Will be returned when the uniform is returned in good condition).
4) As part of your Parent Participation Requirements (B, C, D, E, and Instructional parents/guardians), signup to volunteer at one or more of annual Church Events (1 shift per player).
Player(s) will not be considered registered until you (parent or guardian) signup for parent participation event(s).
5) Also as part of your Parent Participation Requirements (B, C, D, E parents/guardians only), signup to volunteer at the SJUMC Basketball Tournament. At the time of registration, only some of the coordinator positions will be available. These positions will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
6) If you're interested in coaching, a Coaches Signup sheet will be available at each registration session.
At the registration sessions, the process of registering players and signing up for parent participation events may take a while. Please be patient!!
