Next year, the Massachusetts Independent Baseball League will be expanding to Rhode Island to form the New England Independent Baseball League. At least 6 Rhode Island teams will be formed. They will play 18 games and then a playoff for the RI championship, followed by a best of 3 series against the winner of our 16 team Massachusetts division.
With any luck, the league will grow and expand in RI to at least 10 teams by year 2. The NEIBL will play double headers on Sundays from June to early September and is 18-and-over although exemptions will be granted to players who can provide themselves transportation to games throughout RI.
If you or someone you know would be interested in managing a team, email Ryan Sullivan at rippa76@yahoo.com. You can check out our league website at www.eteamz.com/summercatch.
Thanks.

I just have one suggestion to make the league a better place to play. First i think the teams should be intergrated, Westport and Tiverton kids on the same teams. This will make the league a little more exciting because every year the angels and the cubs come in first and second. I think that with this change the league will become more competitive and fun.

I thought I would just drop a line to Mr. DeCosta. He was my coach back in 96', we went to cooperstown for the first time, and made a lot of fun of Dave Ulmshnieder while we were there. I hope he's still gettin out there and throwing b/p with fake knuckleballs. Talk to you later, the tall guy from Little Compton.
