Welcome to the San Gabriel Valley Arsenal website. The Arsenal was established in the summer of 2001 with players from throughout the San Gabriel Valley. With the success of the program we have attracted top players from throughout Southern California. We now have players from the San Fernando Valley, Inland Empire, Orange County, San Diego County, High Desert and the Greater Los Angeles area to form 4 teams for the classes 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012.

The West Covina Dukes and San Gabriel Valley Arsenal have come together under the Maverick Baseball Academy name. While we are both are and will continue to be separate organizations we both have the same beliefs in fundamental baseball development of the youth in our community. The West Covina Dukes will have a 13u and 14u teams. The SGV Arsenal will have teams from 15u to 18u.  Our goal is to enrich the baseball in the City of West Covina, the San Gabriel Valley and bring top baseball events to Maverick field.

FOUR SGV ARSENAL PLAYERS SELECTED PERFECT GAME ALL AMERICAN CLASSIC

Congratulations to C.J. Saylor, Rio Ruiz and Lucas Giolito on being selected to the Perfect Game All American Classic Game for 2011.    With the addition of these three players it will give the SGV Arsenal a total of 10 players to have participated in the All American Classic.   After his performance at the National Showcase, Max Fried was selected for the All American Classic.

THE PERFECT GAME ALL-AMERICAN CLASSIC PRESENTED BY RAWLINGS HEADS BACK TO SAN DIEGO
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA. (June 6, 2011)  Jerry Ford, President of Perfect Game USA, announced today that the 2011 Perfect Game All-American Classic Presented by Rawlings (www.pgallamerican.com), formerly known as the Aflac All-American Baseball Classic, will take place on Sunday, Aug 14 at PETCO Park in San Diego, Calif, home of Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres. This is the 9th annual edition of the country’s premier high school baseball all star game and the fifth time it has been played in San Diego. The first eight games have produced 81 former first round draft picks and 40 of them have already appeared in Major League lineups

The San Gabriel Valley Arsenal Baseball Club is an organization that fields a team for each High School graduating class in Southern California every summer. They compete on a national level, and their players are regularly All-Americans featured on Perfect Game, Under Armor,  Area Codes, and AFLAC. In 2010, the 16U Arsenal club won the Mickey Mantle World Series in Texas. I recently had the opportunity to talk to the Arsenal founder and coachMichael Viera. I asked him about that championship team, his upcoming 2011 teams, and about what it takes to guide high school kids to success. This is how it went down;
